Logistic Coördinator - 4pl Transport

About the role

As a Logistic Coordinator you take full responsibility for managing the transport of the customer’s products. You will work in a small team, operating in-house at the customer’s location. The office is conveniently located next to Rotterdam Central Station. Our client is an international, dynamic, and fast-growing company specializing in plant-based fats and oils, primarily used in detergents, household, and personal care products.

In your daily tasks, you ensure the transport of Packed liquids/palletized cargo from multiple production sites to end Customers across Europe. This involves external communication with:

  • Producers' planners (our client): What needs to be transported, when, and in what quantity?

  • Operators at production sites: When can loading occur, and are there any delays or special considerations?

  • Carriers' planners: How should they instruct their drivers?

You will also collaborate internally with the operational team at the client’s site/office. Through email and face-to-face communication, you’ll stay updated on factors affecting delivery times, enabling them to adjust their production schedules accordingly.

In addition to daily planning and managing transport operations, you will actively engage in Continuous Improvement initiatives. This includes identifying incidents and non-conformities, proposing solutions, and recommending follow-up actions based on key performance indicators (KPIs).

Your responsibilities
For some production locations, you’ll receive a weekly schedule in advance, while orders from other locations may come in more ad hoc. Once an order is received, you’ll register it in the Freight Management System (FMS) and determine the best transport solution, whether in Intermediate Bulk Containers (IBCs) or Palletized cargo (cartons / bags)

Most routes are pre-tendered. You’ll assign a carrier with available capacity for the required transport timing. Once the carrier confirms, you’ll relay this information to the client and coordinate with the operators at the loading site. Occasionally, you may need to interact with the end customer.

If any issues arise during transport, you’ll ensure they are resolved as efficiently as possible. After the order is completed, you’ll document all relevant details (e.g., additional costs for waiting times or cleaning) and prepare the order for invoicing by the finance department.

About you

  • Educational background mbo+/hbo level of work and thinking;

  • Basic knowledge of logistics, preferably acquired through a shipping and logistics program;

  • 1-3 years’ experience in logistics and/or expedition work preferred;

  • Proficiency in English is essential, while Dutch is preferred but not mandatory;

  • Market-aware and trendspotting in transport industry;

  • Self-starter with strong communication skills; meticulous and able to handle multiple products;

  • Preferably, you live within a 45-minute commute from the workplace.
