Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Lumber & Building Material Estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for accurately estimating costs for lumber, building materials, and related construction supplies. This role requires a strong understanding of construction processes, excellent negotiation skills, and proficiency with industry-standard estimating software. The estimator will collaborate closely with project managers, contractors, and suppliers to ensure precise bids and cost control throughout the project lifecycle. A background in construction site management and familiarity with contracts and project management principles are highly valued to support successful project execution.
Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed and accurate estimates for lumber and building materials based on project plans, specifications, and client requirements.
- Utilize estimating software to develop comprehensive cost proposals.
- Analyze project drawings and specifications to determine material quantities and pricing strategies.
- Negotiate with suppliers and vendors to secure competitive pricing while maintaining quality standards.
- Collaborate with construction management teams to ensure estimates align with project budgets, schedules, and scope.
- Review contracts, change orders, and project documentation to update estimates as needed throughout the project lifecycle.
- Assist in cost control measures by monitoring material costs and identifying potential savings opportunities.
- Support project management teams in procurement planning, scheduling, and resource allocation.
- Maintain organized records of estimates, supplier quotes, and contractual documents for audit purposes.
Skills
- Proficiency in Bluebeam for digital plan review and markup.
- Strong negotiation skills to secure favorable pricing terms with suppliers.
- Experience with HeavyBid or similar construction estimating software.
- In-depth knowledge of construction estimating processes, including quantity takeoffs and cost analysis.
- Familiarity with construction site operations, safety standards, and project management principles.
- Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contracts accurately.
- Excellent communication skills for collaboration with clients, vendors, and internal teams.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining accuracy in estimates.
- Knowledge of cost control techniques to optimize budget adherence throughout the construction process. Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $45,000.00-$60,000.00 per year
