Job Title: Yard Associate – Full-Time
Department: Yard - Labourer
Rate of Pay: $20.00
Hours: up to 42.5 hours per week
HOURS: 7:30am to 4:30pm (Monday to Friday)
7:30am am to 3:00pm (Occasional Saturday)
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Brae-Con Building Supplies/BMR Pro is seeking a reliable and customer-focused Yard Laborer to join our team, a leading retailer in hardware, building supplies, and lumber. As a Yard Laborer, you will be responsible for assisting customers in the yard, loading and unloading materials, and ensuring the efficient operation of the yard. This role involves operating a variety of equipment, including forklifts, pallet jacks, and lumber carts, and requires strong communication skills, a focus on health and safety compliance, and a commitment to excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities
· Customer Service: Provide exceptional service to customers in the yard, answering questions and assisting with product selection and material handling.
· Loading/Unloading: Efficiently load and unload materials, including lumber, hardware, and building supplies, ensuring products are handled safely and accurately.
· Equipment Operation: Operate yard equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and lumber carts, following proper safety protocols and guidelines.
· Inventory and Stocking: Assist with inventory management by restocking shelves, organizing materials, and conducting regular stock counts to maintain accurate inventory records.
· Shipment Preparation: Build and organize shipments for customers, ensuring orders are prepared according to specifications and ready for pickup or delivery.
· Health and Safety Compliance: Adhere to all health and safety regulations, ensuring the yard is clean, organized, and free of hazards. Actively participate in maintaining a safe working environment.
· Returns and Exchanges: Handle returns and exchanges according to company policies, ensuring customer satisfaction while maintaining proper documentation and inventory adjustments.
· Yard Cleanup: Regularly maintain a clean and organized yard by picking up debris, disposing of waste, and ensuring all equipment is properly stored.
· Loss Control: Contribute to efforts to minimize loss through proper handling of materials and vigilant monitoring of yard activities.
· Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned, including assisting in general yard operations and supporting team members as needed.
Qualifications:
· Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
· Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift up to 100 pounds and perform physical tasks for extended periods of time, including bending, lifting, and walking.
Skills & Experience:
o Experience operating forklifts, pallet jacks, or similar equipment is preferred.
o Knowledge of inventory management and building materials is a plus.
o Ability to read and comprehend written and printed materials, including product specifications and safety guidelines.
o Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact with customers and team members professionally.
o Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
o Flexible schedule, including availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
· Customer Service: Proven ability to provide outstanding customer service and assist with problem resolution.
· Health & Safety: Commitment to safety and following all company health and safety protocols.
Working Conditions
· Work is outdoors, exposed to varying weather conditions, including rain, snow, heat and cold, dust, year-round.
· Regularly required to lift, move, and carry heavy materials (up to 100 pounds).
· Constant bending, lifting, stretching and moving materials
