Job Description


Student Success Advisors
help students successfully navigate and complete SAE programmes. This may involve individual or group tutorials on specific course-related topics and in areas such as research, academic writing, practical studio skills, and essential study skills like time management. Student Success Advisors also assist students in connecting with relevant professional services, including counselling, when needed.

A particular focus of this position is Māori and Pacific Learners. This entails providing advice, advocacy and mentoring to assist Māori and Pacific students with their academic, personal and cultural needs. The Māori and Pacific Student Success Advisor may also participate in the development and implementation of a strategy to enhance Māori and Pacific student success, as well as assist in creating a learning environment that is welcoming and valuing of students from Māori or Pacific backgrounds and supports their learning experience. This role is part time, working two days a week.


Qualifications


The person we seek will ideally have the following:

  • A tertiary qualification in a creative media discipline or in academic/learning support
  • Knowledge of the tertiary education sector, particularly within creative media contexts
  • Experience with supporting students, ideally within a tertiary environment
  • Experience of the music, audio, songwriting or screen industry would be advantageous
  • Be connected to Māori or Pacific communities
