We're currently seeking a skilled and safety-focused Excavator Operator to join our team at our aggregate pit.

Job Summary:

The Excavator Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of heavy equipment (primarily an excavator) to extract, move, and load aggregate materials. The ideal candidate will have experience working in an aggregate pit or similar environment and be knowledgeable about safe operating practices, equipment maintenance, and material handling.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate an excavator to extract and load aggregate materials (sand, gravel, rock) efficiently and safely.
• Load material into haul trucks and feed crushing equipment as needed.
• Perform daily equipment inspections, basic maintenance, and report any mechanical issues.
• Ensure pit walls and slopes are maintained to proper safety standards.
• Work closely with site supervisors and other team members to maintain production targets and site safety.
• Comply with all company policies, procedures, and health & safety regulations.
• Assist with other duties around the pit as needed (e.g., cleanup, equipment checks, maintenance).

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years of experience operating an excavator, preferably in an aggregate or mining environment.
• Strong understanding of safe operating procedures and hazard awareness.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Physical ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Mechanical aptitude is an asset

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00-$37.00 per hour

Expected hours: 48 per week
