About Us
Seeding Natives is a specialist not-for-profit organisation leading the way in ecological restoration from the ground up. We focus on restoring native grasslands and ecosystems through innovative direct seeding, appropriate site preparation, weed management, and tailored land management practices.
About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Machinery and Equipment Operator to join our restoration team. You’ll be working across a range of sites to help bring landscapes back to life, operating tractors, seeders, slashers, and boom spray equipment for both broadacre and small-scale ecological projects.
This hands-on role requires someone capable of working both independently and as part of a small team to deliver practical on-ground restoration outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate tractors, slashers, seeders, and other restoration machinery.
- Conduct broadacre and small-scale weed control, including boom spraying, backpack spraying
- Undertake slashing, brushcutting, harvesting, and other general site maintenance tasks.
- Carry out restoration works safely and efficiently, following best-practice ecological guidelines.
- Maintain and care for equipment and vehicles.
Essential Requirements
- Demonstrated experience operating agricultural or environmental machinery.
- Boom spraying qualifications and experience
- Strong understanding of weed control methods and safe chemical handling.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good physical fitness and a genuine interest in environmental restoration.
- Current driver’s licence. MR truck licence would be better
Desirable
- Experience in native seed harvesting or direct seeding operations.
- Mechanical aptitude and basic maintenance skills.
- Knowledge of native vegetation and ecological restoration principles.
- Plant ID skills

Job Type: Contract
Contract length: 3 months
Pay: $26.00 – $32.00 per hour
Expected hours: 38 per week
