Perform manual work involving the sorting, delivering and collection of U.S. mail, campus mail and accountable mail to and from designated buildings and offices of the Rolla campus at the University of Missouri in accordance with prescribed routes. Work is reviewed through evaluation of general effectiveness as reflected by comments, complaints, speed and accuracy of sorting, route flexibility and attendance record.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately sort incoming mail and distribute to various departments year-round, in variable weather conditions
- Collect and prepare outgoing mail and examine returned mail pieces
- May deliver and obtain signed receipt for accountable mail (certified, registered, insured, Express and returned USPS parcels.)
- Operate mail vehicles and perform general preventive maintenance (e.g. fill fuel tanks, vacuum debris, etc. as required)
- Provide excellent customer service via phone, email, and in-person
- Contribute to completion of tasks and communicate effectively with team
- Perform other duties as assigned throughout department
Minimum Qualifications
- A high school diploma or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired is necessary
- At least 18 years of age
- A valid Missouri driver’s license
- Good physical health to withstand walking occasionally under adverse weather conditions
- Ability to lift and carry a maximum of 70 pounds
- Above average hand-to-eye coordination
- Ability to deal with people in a courteous manner
Anticipated Hiring Range
The anticipated hiring range for this position has been established as $14.50-$16.83 hourly.
Salary is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the individual’s particular combination of education, skills, and experience, as well as organizational requirements.
