Pay Rate: $33,664.23 / Year (Fulltime Position)

Qualifications:

• High School diploma or GED required
• One year experience in maintenance field
• Must have access to dependable transportation with valid current liability insurance and a valid driver’s license

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

· Knowledge of methods and equipment used in the operation, maintenance and repair of buildings, grounds and equipment; working knowledge of safety precautions in all phases of building repair and maintenance such as; plumbing, carpentry and electrical

· Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and others

· Ability to maintain accurate records and prepare all assigned reports

· Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing

· Ability to follow oral and written instructions

· Ability to recognize and correct health and safety hazards

· Ability to react appropriately to emergency and priority situations

· Ability and desire to work effectively and professionally

· Ability to adapt positively to change

· Must be able to relocate large objects (up to approximately 100 lbs.)

· Regular crouching, bending, twisting, stooping, kneeling, etc. to facilitate various repairs and maintenance activities; regular reaching, including over-head to stock and retrieve supplies, equipment, painting, repairs, etc.

Responsibilities:

· Be knowledgeable of and adhere to agency policies and procedures, Head Start regulations, local/state child care regulations, and other regulations, as applicable Be knowledgeable of and adhere to service contracts, as applicable

· Consult with supervisor to identify and address agency maintenance needs

· Ensure all work requests are completed in a timely manner and reflect quality workmanship

· Assist with repair and maintenance of agency buildings, grounds, and equipment including preventive maintenance as instructed

· Assist in ensuring all health and safety building/playground issues are resolved immediately as appropriate

· Make light plumbing, electrical and carpentry repairs as requested

· Provide lawn and grounds care and maintenance at all agency sites as assigned (includes playgrounds, landscaped beds, parking lots, etc.)

· Ensure assigned centers/office buildings reflect a professional, neat and clean appearance at all times

· Ensure agency maintenance machinery/equipment is properly maintained, kept clean and stored in a secure location

· Submit site maintenance checklist weekly

· Ensure regular communication and follow-up with supervisor and staff regarding maintenance needs and status of maintenance requests

· Purchase necessary maintenance items as requested by supervisor; responsible for petty cash as assigned

· Assist with emergency repairs and maintenance at all sites including evening and weekend emergency calls

· Assist with training and special event set-ups as requested

· Become familiar with program goals, objectives and philosophy
