Maintenance Buyer/Planner

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Buyer/Planner develops, plans, and organizes programs regarding preventative maintenance, parts inventory and purchase, maintenance work orders, and records of maintenance services to ensure the smooth operations of all maintenance activities.

What does a Maintenance Buyer/Planner do?

  • Work directly with maintenance supervisor and manager for maintenance purchasing, inventory, preventive maintenance and building equipment maintenance.
  • Develop, schedule, validate and report findings from preventive maintenance completed by technicians with maintenance manager assistance. Identify reported issues with material handling equipment, man lifts, building docks and doors and schedule appropriate contractors, justify and validate all repairs on such equipment.
  • Obtain quotes, generate purchase orders, communicate with vendors for orders, receive orders, and find the right suppliers and negotiate on pricing and delivery.
  • Receive, organize, and maintain inventory, purchasing office and storage for inventory items. Maintain, identify, and schedule hazardous waste removal from building with contractors.
  • Complete related paperwork for received maintenance orders, conduct cycle counts of parts to promote accuracy of inventory and its valuation, and ensure maintenance team follow inventory control system.
  • Provide summaries of KPIs to the Maintenance Manager and Participate in planning and managing maintenance costs, preventive maintenance, and other continuous improvement strategies.
  • Works directly with production scheduler and supervisor to schedule downtime for repairs associated with building & Lifting equipment, and coordinates repairs amongst Maintenance Electricians, Millwrights, and contractors accordingly. Communicate within departments to ensure unobstructed plant operation.
  • Perform other duties, including data entry, work orders entry, internal audits or similar office support to the maintenance department.
  • Works in a safe manner, adhering to all health and safety practices in accordance with company policies and procedures, and participates in 5S activities (including auditing).

What you bring to the table

  • 2 – 3 Years of previous Maintenance Purchasing/Scheduling experience.
  • Knowledge/experience with pneumatics, hydraulics, PLC controls, etc. is an asset.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Excel, Word, Outlook, Internet, etc.
  • Familiarity with PLEX or other ERP systems is an asset.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Salary Range:

  • $60,000.00 - $75,000.00 (Salary is dependent on experience)

Previous experience is required, but we are open to individuals with previous transferable skills such as: Maintenance Buyer, Maintenance Purchaser, Maintenance Scheduler, Maintenance Planner, Maintenance Coordinator, Inventory, Purchasing, Parts, Maintenance, etc…

Pay: $60,000.00-$75,000.00 per year

Education:

  • Secondary School (preferred)

Experience:

  • purchasing: 3 years (required)
  • Preventative Maintenance Scheduling: 3 years (required)
