As a Maintenance Officer (Belair), you will maintain buildings, equipment and grounds at Kalyra Retirement Living Belair, performing preventative and corrective repairs to keep the village safe, tidy and welcoming.

About the Role

As a Maintenance Officer (Belair) you will undertake regular, corrective and preventative maintenance to ensure the appearance and condition of the buildings, plant, equipment and grounds of Kalyra are of a quality standard and provide a safe environment for our residents, staff and visitors.

Participation in the Kalyra Maintenance Service out of hours roster is a requirement of the role (approximately four times per year).

Key Responsibilities

As a valued member of our Kalyra Retirement Living team in Belair, as Maintenance Officer you will:

Ensure maintenance services are delivered according to relevant legislation and best practice industry standards.
Identify and make recommendations for opportunities and themes for continuous improvement.
Deliver maintenance services effectively, efficiently, and within established budget.
Work with Kalyra staff, including volunteers and contractors, to deliver timely maintenance services.
Refer to the Village Manager for ‘out of budget’ requests.
Adhere to organisational policies, procedures and values to enable the achievement of strategic goals.
Ensure regular reports of and administrative duties are completed, while making recommendations for change to the Village Manager.
Participate in an on-call roster.
Maintain a safe working environment and to cease work/activity immediately if work is in breach of safety policies and procedures.

Skills and Experiences:
Experience, Skills & Knowledge

We’re looking for someone who brings:
Ability to work effectively as a team member.
Ability to demonstrate understanding of and communicate effectively with older people
Ability to implement continuous improvement practices
Ability to prioritise workloads, demonstrate flexibility and achieve outcomes within specified time frames
Basic computer literacy
Working knowledge of Work Health Safety Act and regulations and their application in the workplace
Experience in providing maintenance services in a Retirement Village environment is desirable.
Experience in a building or trade related area is desirable.
Working knowledge of building and allied trades in relation to maintenance activities is desirable.

Qualifications

Current Drivers Licence.
Current national police certificate or be willing to complete a criminal history check.
Trade or other formal Qualification is desirable.
