Introduction:
ACEREZ is a consortium, comprised of ACCIONA, COBRA and Endeavour Energy which has been appointed Preferred Network Operator by EnergyCo to design, deliver, operate and maintain the transmission line network for the Central-West Orana Renewable Energy Zone (CWO REZ).

The new transmission infrastructure, which will combine high-capacity transmission lines, energy hubs and related infrastructure, will enable generators such as solar and wind farms and energy storage providers in the CWO REZ to connect to the electricity grid, providing a reliable supply of clean, affordable electricity for households and businesses across NSW while helping to meet the state’s newly legislated Net Zero targets.

Description:
THE OPPORTUNITY

As a Maintenance Supervisor your role will be to lead and coordinate the maintenance activities of overhead high-voltage transmission lines, ensuring safe, timely, and cost-effective execution in alignment with ACEREZ M&L’s maintenance strategies and asset performance objectives. This role plays a critical part in transforming strategic maintenance plans into field execution, driving continuous improvement, and ensuring full compliance with safety, environmental, and technical standards while supporting transmission network reliability and resilience.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position requires close coordination with Maintenance Planners, Line Inspectors, Environmental Officers, Engineering teams, and external contractors to ensure safe and effective maintenance execution, rapid response to faults, and a strong field-based safety and performance culture across the transmission line corridor. The role also plays a key part in:

  • oversee the execution of maintenance for Overhead Conductors and Earth Wires, Insulators, Towers and Poles, Foundations and Footings, Earthing Systems, Access Roads and Easements, OPGW and Communication Cables, and Anti-Climbing devices, Tower Markers and Signage
  • supervise, coach, and support transmission line maintenance teams and inspectors, promoting best practices for the safe upkeep of overhead line infrastructure
  • ensure all field activities prioritise Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) standards, placing the safety of people and integrity of assets at the forefront of decision-making
  • support the technical development of line crews by coordinating on-the-job training, post-inspection reviews, and lessons learned from corrective maintenance and incident responses
  • execute and supervise scheduled, reactive, and condition-based maintenance for transmission line components in accordance with asset strategies and network priorities
  • coordinate internal resources, field crews, vegetation management teams, and external contractors to ensure safe and timely execution of line maintenance works
  • ensure accurate use of digital inspection tools, CMMS platforms, and maintenance documentation (including structure condition reports, thermal imaging, and tower access records)
  • support early-stage project delivery through oversight of construction and commissioning activities related to transmission lines, including validation of routing and structural interfaces, coordination with project engineering, and development of inspection routines and maintenance procedures
  • monitor the performance of transmission line assets and teams, addressing emerging risks such as corrosion, vegetation intrusion, or structural fatigue
  • identify recurring faults or deteriorating components and collaborate with Engineering or external specialists to plan and execute corrective actions.
  • participate in incident investigations and root cause analyses (RCAs), providing field data and technical recommendations.
  • support the preparation of weekly plans, condition assessment summaries, and reporting for internal reviews or external regulatory obligations.
Skills and Experiences:
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Certificate III in Electrotechnology or Civil Construction (TAFE or equivalent)
  • Proven experience supervising maintenance and inspection activities on high-voltage transmission lines, including towers, conductors, insulators, and associated hardware.
  • Strong understanding of overhead HV transmission infrastructure, including steel lattice towers, pole structures, conductor systems, vibration damping, and earthing.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead field teams and manage contractors, ensuring safe and efficient delivery of work in remote, high-risk environments.
  • Competent in interpreting structure drawings, line profiles, stringing charts, and maintenance procedures related to towers and fittings.
  • Valid Driver’s Licence, required for regional travel and access to transmission corridors.
  • Working at Heights, EWP, or Tower Rescue certifications, desirable.
  • Familiarity with Enterprise Asset Management Systems (EAMS) such as SAP or Maximo, etc, advantageous.
  • Experience with digital inspection tools, drones, or tower condition assessment software, beneficial.
TECHNICAL EXPERIENCE

Solid understanding of high-voltage (HV - 330kV) and extra-high-voltage (EHV - 500kV) transmission overhead line systems, including conductor systems, tower structures, hardware fittings, and insulation components.
Hands-on experience in maintaining overhead conductors, shield wires (earth wires), insulators, vibration dampers, spacers, and tower fittings, with strong awareness of mechanical tension, corrosion, and weathering effects.
Proven ability to inspect, assess, and troubleshoot structural and electrical issues in towers and line components, identifying early signs of degradation or safety risks.
Familiarity with tower foundations, anti-climbing devices, and ROW (right-of-way) access and clearance requirements, including terrain and vegetation challenges.
Skilled in conducting preventive, corrective, and condition-based maintenance, including foot patrols, drone-assisted inspections, thermography, and emergency response after storms or fires.
Proficient in using Enterprise Asset Management Systems (EAMS) such as SAP, Maximo, or equivalent, for work order management, field inspection recording, and defect tracking.
Strong knowledge of industry standards such as AS/NZS 7000 (Overhead Line Design), AS/NZS 2067, EHS and applicable safety codes for working at heights and near live assets.
Experience conducting and applying risk assessments (e.g., JSA, SWMS), ensuring proper use of PPE, exclusion zones, and compliance with work-in-field protocols.
Competent in reviewing line route drawings, stringing charts, tower type specifications, and structure condition reports to support maintenance decisions.
Familiarity with drone imagery analysis, tower corrosion grading, and other condition assessment techniques.
