What will you be doing?

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager the Maintenance Team Leaders is responsible for ensuring the overall maintenance and engineering integrity of the plant is maintained, optimized and improved to always provide safe generation and environmental performance of the plant.

A core focus of the role is also to ensure the plant and apparatus is maintained with respect to safety, environmental, OEM and industry recognised best practice guidelines, to deliver the highest levels of availability, reliability and efficiency, whilst always maintaining engineering integrity.

Summary of key responsibilities:

  • Provide management and supervisory support to technicians within a multifunctional engineering and maintenance team. Engaging and developing all employees to maximise their potential to themselves and the business, delivering as a minimum annual and mid-term Performance Reviews for all direct reports.
  • Maintain the plant against OEM guidance, applicable legislation and industry best practice to ensure the availability of the plant is maximised, taking proactive measures to improve plant reliability, efficiency and performance, whilst maintaining overall plant integrity in a safe and environmentally responsible manner.
  • Provide engineering support as required to the engineering/maintenance and operations team for plant technical issue resolution.
  • Coordinate and plan the daily maintenance activities in line with the above agreed CMMS, operations team and QHSE lead to ensure maximum plant reliability & flexibility is achieved to high standards of quality, safety and environmental performance.
  • Support with establishing of a long-term engineering integrity strategy and short/mid-term maintenance strategy for all mechanical/electrical and C&I assets within the site. Maintaining the asset risk register to provide guidance and inform the stations business plan.
  • Write, review and revise, when necessary, instructions and procedures associated with plant engineering and engineering/design issues.
  • Support and lead where required to ensure that Root Cause Investigations are carried out for all maintenance, health, safety and environmental issues that all actions are closed out in a timely manner and all learning is embedded within the unit and knowledge transferred to other BWSC sites.
  • Deliver outage works, including general planning, scheduling and co-ordination, across BWSC GS UK staff and external providers.
  • Implementing the company's health, safety quality and environmental management policies and actively participating in company/site HSE initiatives, including procedure reviews on a periodic basis.

Qualifications & Knowledge to succeed:

  • Minimum of HNC/HND within an Engineering discipline with a high level of practical thermal plant engineering or maintenance experience (Qualifications below this may be acceptable if accompanied by suitable experience).
  • NEBOSH Certificate is a preferred requirement.
  • Experience of mechanical principles, electrical principles/experience up to 11Kv and C&I principles/experience including DSC/SCADA systems would be advantageous.
  • A full understanding of modern maintenance practices, techniques and systems.
  • Demonstrable engineering/maintenance experience, in a supervisory role.
  • Excellent CMMS experience and understanding.
  • Knowledge of KKS would be advantageous.
  • Full UK driving licence.

This role is a full-time role contracted for 40 hours per week, working Monday to Friday.
