About Progressive Industrial Fluids

Progressive Industrial Fluids is a locally owned, family-operated Canadian manufacturing company based in Southwestern Ontario. We design, manufacture, and distribute industrial fluids and specialty chemical products that support critical industries across Canada.

Built from the ground up, Progressive has grown through a strong focus on process, quality, and doing things the right way. We take pride in producing Canadian-made products, supporting local jobs, and maintaining hands-on ownership involvement in the business.

Over the past several years, we have intentionally invested in building a process-driven organization. From documented procedures and quality controls to ERP integration through Odoo, our systems are designed to support scale, consistency, and continuous improvement.

We believe great companies are built by great people. As we grow, we are focused on surrounding ourselves with team members who care about their work, take ownership, and want to help build something lasting. We value accountability, consistency, safety, and continuous improvement.

Joining Progressive Industrial Fluids means becoming part of a team that is building for the long term, where contributions matter, improvements are encouraged, and success is shared.

The Role

The Maintenance Technician is a hands-on role responsible for keeping Progressive Industrial Fluids operating safely, efficiently, and reliably. This position supports production, blending, packaging, warehouse, and facility operations by maintaining equipment, troubleshooting breakdowns, completing repairs, and helping prevent avoidable downtime.

This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in practical problem-solving, safe work, and keeping equipment in strong operating condition. The Maintenance Technician will work closely with production, warehouse, and management teams to identify maintenance needs, complete work orders, support preventive maintenance, and help improve equipment reliability over time.

The Maintenance Technician will also help coordinate and support outside contractors performing maintenance or repair work on site. This includes ensuring contractors follow company safety requirements, complete required documentation, and return equipment or work areas to an operationally ready condition.

We are looking for someone who is organized, mechanically inclined, safety-focused, and willing to take ownership of both planned maintenance and urgent repair work. This is not a purely reactive role. The right person will help build better systems, improve maintenance records, support spare parts organization, and contribute to a safer, more reliable manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

Equipment Maintenance & Repair

Perform routine preventive and corrective maintenance on production equipment, facility systems, and machinery.

Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues in a safe and practical manner.

Repair or replace defective components, including motors, pumps, valves, bearings, belts, conveyors, fittings, and related equipment parts.

Respond quickly to equipment breakdowns to help minimize production downtime and operational disruption.

Assist with installation, setup, testing, and commissioning of new or modified equipment.

Preventive Maintenance & Reliability

Complete inspections to identify wear, damage, safety concerns, or opportunities for improvement.

Support preventive maintenance programs designed to reduce downtime and improve equipment reliability.

Identify recurring equipment issues and communicate practical recommendations for long-term fixes.

Support continuous improvement initiatives related to equipment performance, safety, and operational efficiency.

Documentation, Work Orders & Parts

Maintain accurate maintenance logs, work orders, inspection records, and repair documentation.

Use maintenance tracking systems and company procedures to document work completed and follow-up items required.

Help maintain tools, spare parts inventory, and maintenance supplies in an organized and ready-to-use condition.

Communicate parts, materials, or outside service needs to management in a timely manner.

Safety, Compliance & Work Practices

Follow company health and safety policies, lockout/tagout procedures, PPE requirements, and safe work practices at all times.

Support safe equipment access and ensure equipment is properly isolated before maintenance work begins.

Keep maintenance areas, tools, and active work zones clean, organized, and free of avoidable hazards.

Report unsafe conditions, incidents, near misses, or equipment concerns promptly to management.

Contractor Coordination & Site Support

Coordinate and escort outside contractors while they are on company property, as required.

Verify contractors follow site safety rules, PPE requirements, sign-in processes, permits, and company procedures before work begins.

Assist contractors with equipment access, lockout/tagout coordination, operational support, and site-specific information as needed.

Monitor contractor work for compliance with safety, environmental, and operational standards.

Review completed contractor work for quality, cleanliness, and operational readiness before equipment is returned to service.

Team & Operational Support

Work collaboratively with production, blending, packaging, warehouse, and leadership teams.

Communicate clearly regarding equipment status, downtime, repair timelines, and operational risks.

Prioritize maintenance work in a fast-paced environment while balancing safety, production needs, and long-term reliability.

Support a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and doing work properly the first time.

Who You Are

You are someone who:

Takes ownership of maintenance issues and follows through until the work is complete.

Enjoys troubleshooting equipment and solving practical, hands-on problems.

Works safely, carefully, and consistently, even during urgent breakdowns.

Communicates clearly with operators, supervisors, contractors, and managers.

Is organized with tools, parts, documentation, and follow-up tasks.

Understands that good maintenance is not just fixing breakdowns, but preventing them.

Can work independently while still supporting the larger operations team.

Qualifications & Experience

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Technical certification, trade experience, millwright experience, electrical experience, or related industrial maintenance experience preferred.

Minimum 2-5 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing, warehouse, blending, packaging, chemical, or industrial environment preferred.
