We are looking for a Maintenance Worker to join our team!

Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Maintenance Worker will perform various skilled and semi-skilled tasks. The Maintenance Worker is required to perform their duties in a manner consistent with the Victoria Village mission, core values, employee guiding principles and standards of employee conduct, ensuring resident safety and demonstrating customer service excellence.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs general mechanical maintenance, minor building repairs such as painting, drywall repairs, plumbing, and minor electrical as assigned
  • Responsible for the upkeep, cleanliness, and safety of all exterior areas of the property
  • Perform general groundskeeping duties including mowing, trimming, raking, planting, general outdoor repairs, watering, and weeding
  • Maintain outdoor facilities such as walkways, parking lots, fences and outdoor furniture
  • Remove litter, debris and snow, and apply salt or sand to walkways as needed
  • Operate and maintain maintenance tools and equipment such as mowers, trimmers, blowers, and snowplows
  • Seasonal tasks such as leaf cleanup, planting, and snow removal
  • Follow all safety policies and procedures
  • Garbage and recycling removal
  • Maintains a clean, safe environment for residents
  • Models positive working relationships

Qualifications:

  • Secondary school graduate or approved equivalent
  • Experience in general maintenance and repairs
  • Able to utilize large and small hand tools
  • HVAC and electrical experience or training an asset
  • Some experience in working with machinery and tools
  • Ability to read and write English and follow written instruction

Job Type: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 6 months

Pay: $22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 37.5 per week

  • Barrie, ON L4N 1G3: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

Education:

  • Secondary School (required)

Experience:

  • Facilities maintenance: 1 year (required)
