Maintenance Worker at a Preschool

Primary Functions:

• To ensure a safe, well maintained, sanitized and clean environment for the facility assigned.
• To identify and report to the Program Director any unsafe, broken equipment, or spaces in need of repair.

Education & Qualifications:

High School Diploma or equivalency with 2 years custodial experience

Physical Requirements:

• Standing 70%
• Other movements (sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl) 30%
• Regularly lift or move up to 15 lbs
• Occasionally able to lift or move 50 lbs.
• Able to talk, hear, and smell
• Able to use hands and fingers regularly
• Must have close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus

Skills Needed for Position:

• Able to work with basic cleaning products, equipment and tools.
• Perform multiple, non-technical tasks with a need to occasionally upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions.
• Able to handle emergency situations calmly and effectively.
• Accepts supervision and works well with people.

Job Responsibilities:

• Maintaining a high standard of building cleanliness in all areas used by Mile Square Early Learning Center including vacuuming, cleaning all bathrooms and sinks, replacing supplies including soap, dust work and classroom surfaces, etc.
• Arrange furnishings and equipment in preparation for meetings, classroom activities and special events.
• Develop and maintain full knowledge of Mile Square Early Learning Center site layouts and utilities, and communicate their locations and functions as needed.
• Attend training for the purpose of receiving information on new and/or improved procedures.
• Inspect facilities to ensure that the site is maintained in an attractive and clean condition and/or identify necessary repairs due to vandalism, weather conditions, etc.
• Maintains supplies and equipment to ensure availability of items required to properly maintain facilities.
• Report and/ or repair damaged equipment, flooring and space.
• Mop up spills if on site at the time.
• Support Program Director in completing tasks and other duties as assigned.
• Attend meetings and training sessions as assigned.
• Maintain confidentiality in regard to all agency and program records.
• Able to communicate effectively and professionally with staff, children, and parents.
• Exhibit excellent attendance and punctuality using the opportunities for further professional growth.
• To comply with the Personal Appearance Policy described in the Employee Handbook.
• Work within the structures of the agency and carrying out its functions, policies, and procedures to comply with the Personnel Policies and practices as established by the Board of Directors

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.50 - $17.00 per hour
