Job Summary

  • It is the job of all Pioneer Bible Translators employees to communicate the mission, vision, and core values of Pioneer Bible Translators, especially to prospective donors, prayer partners, and others who might be interested in our ministry.
  • The Major Donor Representative is responsible for identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding a portfolio of major donors and prospects with capacity to give at major donor levels. This role is relationship-focused, strategic, and impact-driven, working closely with leadership, board members, and program staff to align donor interests with organizational priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Devotion to prayer for the mission of Pioneer Bible Translators and their part in fulfilling that mission.
  • Communicating through any available and appropriate platform the mission, vision, and core values of Pioneer Bible Translators and the specific needs of their division and department.

Other essential and important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

1. Donor Relationship Management:

a. Manage a portfolio of approximately 100-150 donors.

b. Build authentic, long-term relationships through personalized outreach, meetings, and engagement.

c. Develop and implement tailored cultivation and solicitation strategies for each donor.

2. Fundraising & Solicitation:

a. Secure major gifts through face-to-face, virtual, and written solicitations.

b. Collaborate with leadership and board members on donor strategy and solicitations.

c. Prepare compelling proposals, gift agreements, and stewardship plans.

3. Stewardship & Impact Reporting:

a. Ensure timely, meaningful stewardship of major donors.

b. Communicate the impact of gifts through reports, updates, and personal touches.

c. Partner with program staff to translate outcomes into donor-centered reporting.

4. Prospect Development & Strategy:

a. Identify and qualify new major gift prospects.

b. Use CRM and research tools to track donor activity and moves management.

5. Collaboration & Administration:

a. Maintain accurate records in the CRM system.

b. Participate in development team meetings and planning.

c. Support fundraising events and special initiatives as needed.

Requirements:

  • Knowledge of the Bible and the faith traditions of Pioneer Bible Translators.
  • The ability to know and communicate the fundamental truths of Scripture.

Other required knowledge, skills and abilities for this position are:

Knowledge Of:

  • Planned giving concepts a plus.
  • Strong organizational, time-management, and follow-through skills.
  • Working with performance metrics and deadlines.
  • PBT practices and principles.
  • Database management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • The Elements of communication and the components of interpersonal interactions.

Ability to:

  • Demonstrate a proven track record of closing significant gifts or transactions.
  • Practice strong relationship-building and communication skills.
  • Exhibit comfort with donor solicitation and discussing philanthropy.
  • Manage multiple priorities with attention to detail.
  • Showcase passion for the organization’s mission to craft and convey meaningful, relevant and dynamic stories.
  • Work independently and collaboratively.
  • Practice ethical, donor-centered fundraising approach.
  • Travel domestically and internationally.
  • Obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Obtain and maintain a valid passport.

Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge is considered as qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

Experience:

  • 3 to 5 years of major gifts or related fundraising experience.
  • Experience in fundraising among Christian organizations, mega churches, and philanthropic donors.
  • Working with boards and senior leadership.
  • Familiarity with donor databases/CRMs (examples such as: Virtuous, Raiser’s Edge, Salesforce, etc.)

Training / Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, required.

Additional Environmental Conditions:

  • Long-duration domestic and / or international flights, as necessary.
  • Short-term stays in unfamiliar cities, domestically and internationally.
  • Navigating unfamiliar roadways and city streets and cultures.

Additional Physical Conditions:

  • Sufficient health necessary to exercise the functions of the role.
  • Exposure to environmental pollution and illnesses associated with domestic and international travel, as warranted

Other Requirements:

  • Because Pioneer Bible Translators is a distinctively religious organization with a clear religious purpose, we will only consider for missionary service and employ individuals whose convictions and beliefs are consistent with our Statement of Faith.
  • Since one of the primary strategies of Pioneer Bible Translators is to disciple others, it is important that every missionary, employee, and regular volunteer, regardless of position or duties, live in a way that glorifies God in order to exemplify the impact of the Bible on each of us, “for we aim at what is honorable not only in the Lord’s sight but also in the sight of man.” (2 Corinthians 8:21, ESV).
  • Every U.S.-based employee is required to be a practicing Christian and evidence that in their daily life, both at home and at work. Pioneer Bible Translators expects these employees to participate in and be willing to lead public prayer, Christian devotions, and other related activities. These employees are expected to attend regularly scheduled events and events that occur with short-notice. They are also expected to be able to communicate the mission, vision, and core values of Pioneer Bible Translators to those outside of Pioneer Bible Translators with whom they have interactions.

Pay: $80,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
