Heritage New Zealand Pouhere Taonga is the lead agency for heritage conservation and advice. This is a unique opportunity to help shape the future of archaeology in New Zealand. The Manager Archaeology/Kaiwhakahaere Poutairangahia provides national leadership for the delivery of statutory archaeological services, particularly under the Heritage New Zealand Pouhere Taonga Act 2014. The role provides quality assurance and national consistency in advocacy and advice provided by the Archaeologists/Poutairangahia working across the organisation.
We are seeking applications from people with skills and experience in statutory archaeological processes, together with the ability and confidence to make high-level recommendations to assist decision-making bodies such as Boards, Councils, and Expert Panels. You must have demonstrable experience of working with hapu and iwi to achieve effective bicultural heritage outcomes.
A post graduate qualification in New Zealand archaeology is required.
