The Electricity Authority Te Mana Hiko is an independent Crown entity that regulates the electricity market. We are a kaitiaki of electricity, and our purpose is to enhance New Zealanders' lives, prosperity, and environment through electricity.
The electricity industry is at a pivotal moment, with the journey towards renewable energy sources and innovation reshaping how we operate. To meet these challenges and opportunities, we're evolving as an organisation - growing our capabilities, expanding our reach, and building a team ready to create a brighter, more sustainable future for Aotearoa. Our focus is on making a difference through bold thinking, collaboration, and delivering value for the communities we serve.
About the role
This newly created role offers an exciting opportunity to shape the future of communications at the Electricity Authority. As Manager - Communications, you'll lead a high-performing team dedicated to providing strategic communications leadership and delivering engaging, impactful messaging to a diverse range of audiences. From consumers to industry participants and government agencies, you'll play a critical role in building trust and confidence in the Authority's work.
Reporting to the General Manager - Communications, Engagement and Data, you'll lead the development of strategies that align with our objectives and support the Authority in achieving its vision. You'll collaborate closely with other leaders across the organisation, including the Manager - Engagement and the Manager - Data, ensuring an integrated and informed approach to communications.
Are you someone with the following?
- Proven leadership experience, with at least five years of mentoring, coaching and supporting communications teams to achieve tangible results
- Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills
- A track record of planning, leading and delivering strategic, integrated communications programmes
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- A commercially savvy and collaborative mindset and the ability to build and maintain effective relationships
- Experience leading through change and an ability to work in an agile environment
- Experience and/or knowledge of the energy sector, regulation or similarly complex sectors (advantageous)
If you're a strategic thinker with a passion for storytelling, a knack for simplifying complex information, and the leadership skills to inspire and motivate a team, we'd love to hear from you.
Why work for us?
We know the importance of maintaining a healthy work-life balance, and in recognition of this, the Authority offers several benefits to support our staff, including:
- Competitive remuneration: salary range between $178,244 - $222,806
- Generous leave allowances and flexible work arrangements
- Ongoing training and professional development opportunities
- Career advancement pathways
- A range of health, wellbeing, and social initiatives, including EAP services, monthly wellbeing events, and much more
