About the role:
The Hospital strives to deliver care that is centred on patients and families. Patient and Family Centred Care (PFCC)
is the provision of care that is respectful of, and responsive to individual patient/family preferences, needs, and values

Reporting to the Director, Human Resources, the Manager, Employee Relations is responsible for leading
comprehensive employee and labour relations programs and services within a complex, multi‑union acute care
environment. The Manager provides expert advice and consultation to leaders at all levels on matters including
collective bargaining, grievance and arbitration management, collective agreement interpretation, workplace
investigations, disability management, accommodation, and pay equity compliance.
The Manager cultivates collaborative and respectful relationships with staff, leadership, and union partners while
proactively identifying emerging issues and developing strategies aligned with the Hospital's operational needs,
organizational values, and applicable legislation.
The successful candidate is a confident, results‑oriented leader who thrives in a fast‑paced, high‑complexity
environment, demonstrates sound judgment and discretion, and is committed to equity, diversity, inclusion. The
Manager leads and develops a team of human resources professionals, setting a high standard for collaboration,
accountability, and service excellence.
EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:
Education/Experience:
* Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Industrial/Labour Relations, Business Administration, Law, or a related
field.
* Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL) designation preferred; CHRP or ability to obtain will be considered.
* Minimum of 3 years of progressive HR leadership or supervisory experience, in addition to a minimum of 5 years of
experience in a multi‑union, unionized environment, including direct experience with collective agreement
interpretation, grievance management, arbitration preparation and attendance, and labour‑management committee
participation.
* Experience in an acute care or hospital setting is strongly preferred; Broader Public Sector experience will be
considered.
* Experience conducting workplace investigations, including harassment and violence in the workplace matters under
applicable legislation.
* Experience with disability/accommodation case management in accordance with the Ontario Human Rights Code
and applicable collective agreement language.
Skills/Abilities:
* Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to draft correspondence, grievance
responses, and reports for senior leadership.
* Demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships and influence across all levels of the organization; skilled in
conflict resolution, interest‑based problem solving, and mediation.
* Proven ability to coach and advise managers and leaders on complex employee and labour relations matters, with
exceptional listening skills and sound judgment.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office 365; experience with HRIS platforms.
Knowledge:
* Working knowledge of applicable legislation including the Labour Relations Act, Employment Standards Act,
Occupational Health & Safety Act, and the Ontario Human Rights Code is required.
Salary Range: $59.570 to 74.460
