Position Details
The University is seeking a skilled and proactive Manager, Enterprise Risk Management to lead the delivery of its enterprise risk management program. Reporting to the Chief Safety & Risk Officer, this role plays a key advisory and enabling function, supporting senior leaders and governance bodies with timely insight, assurance, and action-oriented guidance on managing strategic risks associated with the achievement of objectives as laid out in the University’s Strategic Plan. This position is ideal for an experienced strategic risk professional ready to lead an enterprise risk management program at the institutional level, influencing outcomes through expertise, collaboration, and trust.

About the Role
The Manager, Enterprise Risk Management leads the operationalization, integration, and continuous improvement of the University’s enterprise risk management program. Working in a complex academic environment with academic and operational leaders, this role ensures that key strategic risks are identified, assessed, and managed in alignment with institutional priorities, enabling informed decision‑making and organizational resilience. The role supports the University’s culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and strategic agility by translating complex risk information into clear, actionable insight.
For clarity, this role is distinct from roles that manage the University’s insurance portfolio and occupational health and safety risk.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the delivery and ongoing enhancement of the University’s enterprise risk management framework, aligned with strategic objectives.
  • Partner with senior leaders and risk owners to identify, assess, and manage key strategic and operational risks, including maintaining the University’s strategic risk register.
  • Provide high‑quality risk analysis, insight, and assurance to senior leaders and governance committees.
  • Support risk‑informed decision‑making by assessing the risk impacts of strategic and operational change initiatives.
  • Build risk management capability across the University by providing advice, tools, templates, and guidance that embed effective risk practices into day‑to‑day operations.
  • Undertake horizon scanning and environmental analysis to identify emerging risks affecting the University’s risk profile.
  • Support the escalation and management of critical issues or material incidents with potential institutional impact.
  • Collaborate with Internal Audit to support risk‑based audit planning and shared understanding of the University’s risk environment.
  • Prepare clear, well‑reasoned reports and briefing materials.

Why This Role Matters
This role directly supports the University’s ability to anticipate uncertainty, respond to change, and achieve its strategic goals. By building collaborative relationships and identifying initiatives that deliver impact across multiple objectives, the Manager, Enterprise Risk Management helps ensure the University remains resilient, accountable, and future‑ready.
