How will I help?

This role is part of the Expense Management team in the Finance Function. Working with a group of professionals this role is accountable for delivering strong expense management, capability uplift and financial control through the adherence to policies, processes, and standards; provide financial insights and advice to help our business leaders achieve target outcomes; and build and maintain strong relationships with our stakeholders.
The Expense Management team performs activities including month end close, forecasting, analytics, and investment management and partnering. It also delivers services for Group Functions, Lines of Business (LOB), Divisions and the Group.
You will support the Senior Manager, Expense Management to uplift capability for Groupwide expense management through enhancement of expense management services across the financial management cycle and partner with key stakeholders to empower the group to deliver on cost accountabilities.

Some of the key accountabilities are:

  • Support the delivery of timely, accurate and insightful management reporting to the Group Executives, General Managers, and relevant business partners for Group Functions and Customer & Corporate Services
  • Preparation, rationalisation and automation of journal entries to support earlier close of results
  • Uplift transparency and efficiency in cost attribution and allocation processes
  • Support the execution of risk management and financial control (including SOx) requirements in line with all financial standards, policies, frameworks, and standards
  • Ensure process risks in financials and systems processes are escalated promptly
  • Support Expense Management team members and other stakeholders to ensure financial and system process improvements are resolved

What do I need?

  • Previous experience in financial management and the financial services industry
  • Professional accounting qualification completed – CA, CPA or equivalent
  • Qualifications in commerce or business-related discipline
  • Ability to effectively influence, negotiate and manage expectations with peers and senior team members
  • Ability to develop and maintain productive relationships
  • Solid understanding of technical finance & accounting competencies
  • Understanding of business performance drivers
