Fiskars Group
Manager, Front-End & Advanced Development – R&D
OUR ROLE
We are seeking a dynamic Manager, Front-End & Advanced Development to join our R&D team at Fiskars Group. This is a hands-on technical leadership role focused on transforming crazy ideas into viable solutions for both manual and battery-powered tools.
Your mission? To dream big and make it real—developing groundbreaking concepts and technical solutions that redefine functionality and elevate user experience. You will lead early-stage ideation, explore unconventional approaches, and turn bold ideas into tangible prototypes that inspire the future of our products.
You will manage front-end innovation projects, coordinate agile sprints and multidisciplinary teams while actively contributing to concept creation and technical problem-solving. Your strong technical background in mechanical engineering, hardware/electronics, or embedded systems, combined with experience in agile development and Scrum, will enable you to orchestrate innovation and deliver breakthrough solutions.
This role does not include line management responsibilities—instead, you will guide teams through ideation, prototyping, and feasibility validation, ensuring bold concepts become manufacturable products. If you thrive in early-stage development, love creating disruptive ideas, and want to shape the future of consumer tools, Fiskars Group is the place for you.
This position is based in Espoo, Finland, and reports to our Senior Director, R&D. The role is full-time and hybrid.
WHAT YOU’LL DO AT FISKARS GROUP
Responsibilities:
  • Lead front-end innovation projects, managing sprints and coordinating multidisciplinary teams using agile practices.
  • Act as Scrum Master, facilitating planning, reviews, and retrospectives to keep projects on track.
  • Drive ideation sessions and turn bold, unconventional ideas into feasible technical concepts for manual and battery-powered tools.
  • Contribute hands-on to technical development, creating prototypes and validating advanced solutions.
  • Collaborate with industrial designers, engineers, and product managers to merge creativity with technical rigor.
  • Ensure alignment with project goals, timelines, and resource planning while fostering an innovative team culture.
  • Stay ahead of emerging technologies, materials, and design trends to fuel disruptive innovation.
WHO YOU ARE
Experience:
  • MSc/BSc degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electronics, Embedded Systems, or related field.
  • Minimum 8+ years of experience in product development with strong technical expertise in one or more areas: mechanical design, hardware/electronics, or embedded systems.
  • Proven experience in agile development and Scrum Master role.
  • Passion for innovation and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, front-end development environment.
  • Strong ideation and problem-solving skills and a track record of turning unconventional ideas into successful products.
  • Familiarity with CAD tools, prototyping methods, and system-level design principles.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally.
