About the Role
Civil Aviation Authority has a great new role for a Manager Governance and Secretariat to lead the team responsible for the provision of high-quality advice and support to the Authority Board, Chief Executive and senior leaders. This is a pivotal role responsible for the organisation's governance system, production of statutory reporting, and acting as the key interface between the Authority Board, Authority Leadership Team and Subject Matter Experts across the Authority.
A key influential role, supporting the Head of Assurance and Governance you will bring your exceptional knowledge of governance, secretariat, and reporting functions to ensure the Authority's governance decisions, systems and processes support its strategic safety and security objectives.

Leading a small team, you'll be adept at coaching, mentoring and providing direction to enable a high performing, cohesive team deliver on their priorities and programmes of work. While the role leads a small team, it is a highly visible and influential role, where you will need to be politically savvy with the ability to navigate political issues with tact, diplomacy and transparency.

The salary band for the Manager Governance and Secretariat goes from $136,939 to $191,448 with the mid-range being $168,191. Starting salary will be based on knowledge, skills and experience the successful candidate brings to the role, and relativities both, within the immediate team and in the broader Authority for the same or similar roles.

What You'll Bring

  • An experienced governance practitioner who is adept working with Board of Directors, executives and senior managers, preferably in a Crown Entity.
  • Proven experience and understanding of Business Planning processes and quarterly reporting.
  • A leader who is adept at coaching, mentoring and providing direction to enable an effective, results driven team.
  • Proven relationship management skills to establish credibility and trust at all levels of the organisation.
  • A pragmatic approach, whether dealing with ambiguity or reporting on enterprise risk.
  • Demonstrate excellent judgement, interpersonal skills, decision making capabilities, and the ability to read the room.
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of the machinery of government and government accountability processes.
