Reporting to the Director, ISM, the Manager, Investment Structuring and Digital Innovation role within Investment Structure Management (ISM) provides end-to-end structuring support for CPP Investments’ private investments across Credit, Private Equity, and Real Assets, including entity setup and governance, assist with various projects/initiatives, and in setting up and managing CPP Investments group companiesIn parallel, the Manager would lead the evolution of ISM’s operating model through digitally-enabled workflows, automation, and innovative tooling, ensuring the team scales efficiently as deal complexity increases. They will be responsible for implementing solutions to enhance internal processes and connectivity, by leveraging their solid market knowledge, industry connections, and their innate curiosity to learn and continually upskill themselves and others around them.
This role is not a one-time transformation or project-based position. The successful candidate will not only be an active structuring team member, but will also be accountable for the ongoing evolution, implementation, and effectiveness of ISM’s digital workflows and operating model.
The Investment Structure Management (ISM) team is accountable for the operational structuring and end-to-end management of CPP Investments’ private investments. ISM enables the operational structuring of all CPP Investments’ private investments, and also manages the operating risks of CPP Investments’ legal entities while working with other partners in Legal, Finance and Operations.

Accountabilities
Investment Structuring & Transaction Execution
Act as a subject matter expert in supporting the Director in the pre-close structuring and ongoing maintenance of new investments, exits, and restructurings
Be fully accountable for owning, structuring, and closing bilateral Private Equity and Credit investment transactions
Work with internal partners to identify and address structuring and operational complexities within CPP Investments’ legal entity structures
Coordinate the establishment of new legal entities and address legal and governance requirements in partnership with investing teams and core service partners
Provide advanced support for complex structuring and transaction execution activities for various investment products, including tracking deal timelines, developing detailed execution plans, maintaining meeting minutes, and project managing completion of pre-close activities
Build trusted relationships with investing departments and understand nuances across asset classes to support the establishment of new or improved processes
Partner with internal stakeholders on cross-functional initiatives and special projects in support of CPP Investments’ One Fund Strategy
Digital Enablement, Workflow Design & Process Innovation
Own the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of ISM’s end-to-end workflows, leveraging technology, automation, and modern tooling to streamline structuring and deal execution processes
Act as product owner for ISM’s digital workflows, accountable for their ongoing health, effectiveness, and evolution
Evaluate, test, and implement digital and automation solutions (including GenAI, workflow automation tools, data integration, and intelligent document processing) to reduce manual effort, enhance quality, and improve scalability
Develop and track key workflow performance metrics (e.g., cycle time, handoffs, rework), using data and analytics to drive continuous improvement
Lead change management efforts to drive sustained adoption and embed a culture of experimentation, learning, and process excellence within ISM
Develop and maintain analytics, insights, and controls that strengthen ISM’s operating model and support risk management and decision-making
Own centralized reporting processes and ensure insights are translated into action as the business evolves
Stay current on industry trends and participate in Fund-wide digital and GenAI initiatives, identifying opportunities to translate emerging capabilities into practical ISM use cases
Qualifications
Undergraduate degree or college diploma in a related field
6+ years of relevant experience in investment operations, structuring, consulting, private equity, accounting, transaction execution, or related roles
Hands-on experience designing, improving, or executing innovative operational processes or workflows, including change management
A builder mindset—someone who is excited to try new tools, experiment with technology, and translate ambiguous problems into structured, automated workflows
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate complex or ambiguous situations with sound judgement and a commercial mindset
High attention to detail and commitment to delivering accurate, high-quality outputs
Demonstrated ability to use data and analytics to inform decisions; experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau) is an asset
Comfort with modern automation and digital concepts (e.g., workflow automation tools, GenAI, data integration, LLM-powered assistants, data classification engines), even if not a deep technical expert
Strong interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across teams and levels
Self-starter with a solutions-oriented mindset and ability to manage multiple priorities
Highly collaborative and enjoys being a part of a culture of excellence, is flexible and constantly strives to innovate
Preference for professional designation such as CFA, CPA, or CBV
Experience with mergers and acquisitions operations preferred
Experience with low-code / no-code workflow tools or process automation initiatives preferred
