Drive Statewide Change for Mental Health and Wellbeing in NSW
Are you passionate about shaping the future of mental health in New South Wales? The NSW Mental Health Commission is seeking a dynamic and experienced leader to fill the vital role of Manager, Mental Health and Wellbeing Reform (Clerk Grade 11/1.
In this role, you will lead the development and delivery of whole-of-government strategies to improve mental health and wellbeing outcomes for the people of NSW. You’ll provide strategic advice and guidance to public sector agencies, and support government to drive meaningful change.
The Commission is a small agency of around 35 FTE based in the Sydney CBD and working flexibly within hybrid workplace guidelines.

Primary Purpose of the Role -

The Manager, Mental Health and Wellbeing Reform leads and manages the mental health and wellbeing portfolio, overseeing the development of whole-of-government statewide mental health and wellbeing strategies and plans to improve mental health and wellbeing outcomes for the people of NSW.
The role also provides strategic advice, support and guidance to NSW Government public sector agencies and departments to implement statewide strategies and monitors the impact of government action to drive meaningful reform. The incumbent will also develop briefs, reports, and position papers and produce a range of other documents as required by the Director, System Reform and Commissioner.

Essential Criteria –
  • Demonstrated significant experience in leading and managing the development of strategic plans/frameworks or policies in a public sector setting.
  • Extensive experience in managing and developing people, inspiring direction and purpose.
  • Proven ability to act with integrity, manage self, display resilience and courage.
  • Extensive experience and skills in delivering complex projects and preparing well-structured, concise reports.
  • Strong political acumen and proven ability to communicate (written and oral) effectively, work collaboratively, influence, facilitate and negotiate with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Relevant qualifications or equivalent industry experience, preferably in mental health and/or suicide prevention.
  • Knowledge and appreciation of the role of the NSW Mental Health Commission and the mental health and suicide prevention sectors.
