- 2 yr College level course work in Health Administration or related field
- Minimum of five years experience in acute care hospital Accounts Receivable management.
- Two years supervisory experience in Healthcare setting.
- Knowledge and complete understanding of Medicare, Medicaid rule and regulations and compliance guidelines. Along with all other third party payer billing and collection requirements.
- Knowledge of CPT and ICD9 codes a plus.
- Computer literate with experience with Microsoft Office products along with healthcare A/R financial systems required.
- Strong work ethic, analytic and critical thinking skills required.
- Must be detailed oriented and have ability to multi-task while managing others.
- Ability to work in a high stress goal driven work environment.
- Monitors and manages staff and department productivity standards as set within the unit, along with work flow priorities of the staff involved.
- Analyzes and coordinates functions required to ensure timely collections of patient accounts.
- Able to track reimbursements issues.
- Ability to understand the CDM. Deals with complex billing and adjustment issues.
- Helps mentor and motivate collection staff.
- Works within the leadership team of Patient Financial Services.
- Works closely with Medical Records, Patient Access, and Managed Care Depts. to ensure all collection policies and procedures are followed in a compliant and ethical manner.
- Maintains the integrity of entire collection department.
- Position is required to monitor External Collection Agency Vendors and their performance.
- Effectively uses and role models current leadership techniques and theories, encouraging the decision-making skills of staff members and providing insight and leadership in complex situations.
- Ensures that information disseminated to staff is monitored for effectiveness and changed as needed.
- Understands and enforces hospital and personnel policies and procedures.
- Serve on hospital and Patient Care Services committees, teams, and work groups as requested.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
