Description:
This role is fixed-term until 13 September 2027. This is a Parental Leave coverage position,
Role Purpose and Objectives
Lead the strategic planning and service delivery for Council’s resource recovery services and facilities including kerbside collections, resource recovery facilities and landfill. Develop, implement and maintain these services in accordance with environmentally sustainable practice consistent with the Council Plan, Waste Management and Services Strategy, Environmental Sustainability Strategy and relevant authorities, legislation, guidelines and codes of practice including occupational health and safety.
A key responsibility of the role is researching, analysing and recommending strategies for waste management and investment for council.
It is also crucial that this person can successfully lead a team of passionate and brilliant workers to ensure continual success for this high-performing team.

This role has a motor vehicle provided with it, subject to fortnightly deductions. This will be discussed in more detail with the successful candidate.
Skills and Experiences:

Essential
- Relevant tertiary level qualifications - environmental engineering, civil engineering, science or another relevant field.
- Professional development and experience which provides an understanding of and skills in contemporary management practices.
- Senior management and leadership experience in a relevant area with a sound understanding of the social, financial, political and legal frameworks within which Local Government operates.
- Relevant experience in waste management including contract management and asset management.
- High quality communication skills
- Demonstrable understanding and commitment to safe work practices and OHS regulations
Experience in Local Government
Postgraduate qualifications
