ERM’s Capital Projects Delivery practice focuses on supporting development of projects in technology, low carbon energy/ renewables, infrastructure, chemicals and natural resources, through impact assessments and planning. Our goal is always the same: assisting our clients in achieving project success, from planning through construction and operation, while meeting expectations for assessment and management of impacts on environmental, social, health and sustainability. By helping clients bring these issues into the project planning process early, we seek to help our clients meet environmental/social performance objectives, enable savings in capital and operating costs, and avoid significant approval and other delays.
ERM combines experience with global standards, such as the Equator Principles and International Finance Corporation’s Performance Standards, with a thorough understanding of local regulatory systems and cultural sensitivities. We apply state-of-the-art assessment tools, from GIS to modeling and visualization techniques. We have also developed our own Impact Assessment Standard, which we use to maintain consistency and quality when other standards do not apply in a particular situation.
ERM’s Capital Projects Delivery practice has been ERM’s highest growth practice globally, growing over 20% per year for the past 5 years alone. The practice currently has over 1,000 professionals globally, in a firm or 7,000, representing the full range of technical disciplines, with sector experience across the board.
What ERM’s practice is perhaps best known for is supporting some of the most challenging development projects in the world. It is this reputation that attracts and retains the highly skilled consultants who comprise ERM’s Capital Projects Delivery team.
We are currently recruiting a Senior-level Consultant with an ambition to develop and hone their consulting skills, and the motivation to grow with our Singapore team, getting involved in a wide range of service areas, to have exposure across industries, and collaborate across boarders.
Role Profile:
1. To support the successful delivery of ERM projects and objectives by:
- Prepare EIAs/ PCS/ ESIAs for various projects and associated management plans in compliance with international best practice standards (e.g., IFC Performance Standards, Equator Principles) as well as country-specific requirements and general best practices where these specific standards do not apply.
- Review technical reports or data and translate the information to a proper English report.
2. Work with team to draft and present proposals, and to market and develop specific work opportunities
- Coordinate with local authority for approval of EIA projects.
- Serve as Project Manager for medium to large projects.
- Monitor project management activities related to Capital Projects Delivery projects, including task delegation and direction, subcontractor management, health & safety protocol management, monitoring of commercial performance, deliverable quality review, and interaction with clients.
- Contribute to preparing impact assessment deliverables, serving in roles ranging from project manager to from lead technical expert to quality review. Expected project delivery activities include report writing, undertaking and organizing data collection and survey field work, data and literature review, and development of recommendations for clients.
- Collaborate with other ERM global practitioners to execute impact assessment projects. Participate on teams comprised of impact assessment professionals from multiple offices around the global ERM organization.
- Mentor junior-level and mid-level consulting staff (including experienced impact assessment employees, as well as those with introductory levels of impact assessment experience) to develop their skill sets in the Capital Projects Delivery (including impact assessment) practice area.
- Lead and contribute to proposal development, including development of technical scopes and cost estimates.
- Work with team to draft and present proposals, and to market and develop specific work opportunities.
- Maintain and grow client relationships to support repeat and new business.
- Work with other global ERM resources to deepen relationships with ERM key clients to expand ERM’s profile and market share in the global Capital Projects Delivery market (through a combination of excellence in technical delivery and business development support).
Qualifications:
- Master’s / Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Sciences, Chemical or Environmental Engineering or equivalent.
- At least 8-10 years of experience in ESIA/EIA/PCS process and reporting for this senior role. Applicants with greater or lesser years of experience will be considered for other senior or junior roles respectively.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English are essential.
- Technical specialism in an environmental aspect, e.g. biodiversity, air quality, noise, water quality, marine environment.
- Good knowledge of Singapore’s EIA / PCS process, knowledge of international ESIA is an advantage.
- Experience recording/ writing detailed technical data and reports a plus.
- Ability to undertake and manage complex and interdisciplinary work.
- The candidate should have experience in developing direct reports, business and client skills.
- Good leadership, analytical, logic, problem solver and systematic thinking skills.
- Strong and demonstrable project management experience with a skill set in relevant project management tools.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English are desired, along with facilitation skills.
- Ability to multi-task, maintain flexibility, travel, and work independently with minimal supervision.
