Key Responsibilities
- Operate manual lathes to machine and fabricate components according to engineering drawings and blueprints.
- Set up machines and tools, following established machine shop procedures to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
- Read and interpret technical drawings/blueprints to determine machining requirements.
- Communicate effectively with CNC programmers to coordinate workflow and resolve technical issues.
- Use measuring equipment and tools (e.g., micrometers, calipers, gauges) to verify dimensions and tolerances.
- Troubleshoot and solve machining problems as they arise, ensuring high-quality output.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to all safety procedures and company policies.
- Lift and secure work parts weighing up to 20 lbs as required for machine setup and operation.
Qualifications
- Proven experience operating manual lathes in a machine shop environment.
- Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.
- Knowledge of machine setup, tool setup, and general machine shop procedures.
- Effective communication skills, especially in collaborating with CNC programmers and other team members.
- Familiarity with measuring equipment and precision tools.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe and clean work environment.
- Physical ability to lift 20 lbs and secure heavy work parts as needed.
