Marketing Media & Design Associate

Niagara Falls Public Library

Full-time, Permanent (1 position available)

The Niagara Falls Public Library is seeking a Full-time Marketing Media & Design Associate to play a vital creative role in supporting the Library’s communication and engagement strategies through high-impact marketing design, brand stewardship, and digital presence. This position oversees the design and production of all visual and promotional materials, maintains the Library’s website, and contributes to the planning and execution of social media and digital marketing initiatives. The role blends creative design, technical expertise, and collaboration with staff to deliver engaging and accessible marketing and communication products for a diverse community.

The successful candidate will have a demonstrated commitment to outstanding customer service, strong attention to detail, and enthusiastic approach to new marketing strategies. They will have a deep understanding of marketing and design concepts and its application within a Library setting.

Key Responsibilities

Design & Creative Production

  • Designs and produces high-quality visual materials across print and digital platforms, including flyers, posters, signage, brochures, event collateral, and digital displays.
  • Applies strong design principles and creative thinking to produce accessible, brand-aligned materials that reflect the Library’s values and engage a wide and diverse audience.
  • Coordinates with vendors for printing, production, and external services to ensure quality outcomes and timely delivery.
  • Maintains and archives artwork and digital assets according to established protocols.

Website Management:

  • Maintains and updates the Library’s website ensuring all digital content is current, engaging, and accessible.
  • Supports the ongoing design and development of web pages, optimizing layout, accessibility, and responsiveness.
  • Collaborates with IT and vendors as needed for technical improvements and system upgrades.
  • Ensures AODA and WCAG compliance across all online interfaces and digital products.
  • Tracks web analytics and user behaviour to inform continuous improvements and user experience enhancements.

Social Media & Digital Content Creation:

  • Designs platform-specific visual content for the Library’s social media platforms, ensuring alignment with brand and messaging goals.
  • Supports the creation, scheduling, and publishing of social media posts in collaboration with the Creative Team.
  • Monitors social media engagement and supports interactive responses where needed.
  • Tracks digital performance metrics and uses data to recommend content and design improvements.

Brand Management & Merchandising:

  • Maintains brand guidelines and advises internal teams on correct and creative application of brand assets.
  • Consults with Library staff system-wide to support promotional material needs and assist with visual problem-solving.
  • Oversees the design and visual standards for in-library displays, exhibits, signage, and merchandising strategies to ensure positive user experiences and consistent messaging.
  • Coordinates the design and layout of key public-facing publications and communication materials.

Project Coordination & Collaboration

  • Plans, organizes, and manages concurrent design and digital communication projects to meet deadlines and quality standards.
  • Consults with internal teams and departments to clarify project needs and provide design recommendations.
  • Follows established workflows and approval processes for proofing, revisions, and production of all communications materials.
  • Supports the promotion and presentation of documentation, programs and events, including providing photography and visual materials.

Skills, Knowledge & Training:

  • Post-secondary education in Graphic Design, Web Design, Digital Media, or a related field.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a professional graphic or digital design role with a demonstrated portfolio.
  • Expertise in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Premiere Pro/After Effects).
  • Proficiency with web content management systems (e.g., WordPress) and familiarity with HTML/CSS.
  • Experience managing branded social media accounts and developing content that performs across platforms.
  • Strong understanding of accessibility standards (AODA, WCAG) and commitment to inclusive design.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects independently while adhering to deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; comfortable consulting with staff at all levels.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
  • Experience working in public libraries, education, or non-profit organizations is an asset.
  • Valid G-license and access to a vehicle

$31.85-$37.27

Work Hours:

35 hours per week (includes days, evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays).
