Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Material Handler to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for efficiently managing the movement of materials within the warehouse, ensuring that all products are handled safely and effectively. This role is crucial to maintaining the flow of operations and supporting various warehouse functions.
1. Roles & Responsibilities:
Material Handling:
· Adhere to corporate safety policies and procedures
· Ensure that each machine has correct resin and regrind (if applicable) at all time (refer to process book for more detail)
· Ensure that different grade of scrap parts / runners is not mixed in same reject bins / gaylord
· Ensure that all empty Gaylords are removed & collapsed from each station and stored at designated areas
· Ensure that material loading area at each station is clean at all times (no material pallets on the floor)
· Ensure that material removed from storage area are based on FIFO (first in, first out)
· Ensure that granulators next to each molding machine are operational and regrind is being used
· Ensure that all hoppers and dryers are covered at all times and identified with the proper Material ID Tag
· Ensure that all around machines are clean at all times
· Ensure that all inspected parts from molding or care audit stations are scanned as inventory (if applicable) and moved to designated storage location in warehouse
· Ensure that all unused material is returned to the raw material inventory storage location
· Ensure that change overs during tool changes are effective in order to avoid excessive purging and material waste
· Notify Supervisor immediately if any items are low in inventory to avoid potential shortage
· Ensure that forklifts are charged at least 3- 4 times within the 8 hours and follow charging instruction posted at charging stations
· Wear all safety PPE, Shoes, Gloves, Safety Glasses, Mask, Ear muff when and wherever required
· Ensure that daily forklift inspections are complete per check list provided
· Ensure that forklifts are watered every Monday mornings.
· Perform other duties assigned by reporting manager
Raw Material Change
· Turn off loader to stop material feed early enough to avoid material purging
· If required drain out remaining material from loader or dryer and place back into storage prior to next production run
· Disassemble loader or dryer and clean of all previous material
· Inspect the loader or dryer to ensure all pellets, dust have been removed
· Reassemble loader or dryer
· Ensure the correct material ID has been placed on dryer or loader
· Ensure the dryer log sheet has been updated to new material or lot
2. Qualifications:
· A minimum of 3 years in the field of plastics manufacturing (preferred but will train)
· A minimum grade 12 education or equivalent
· Must have a valid Forklift license from Ontario
3. Skills:
· Basic Math, English, Reading and Writing
· Must be familiar with all types of resins used and is responsible for the correct material being ground, labeled and stored
· Basic understanding of IATF 16949, ISO 14001 company quality & environmental policies and expectations
· Familiar with Forms, Tags and Labels governing job function
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $18.00-$18.50 per hour
