General Job Description:
The Material Handler is responsible for receiving, processing, cycle counting and delivering of material to storage (inventory), appropriate work cells in Assembly (WIP) while maintaining inventory/WIP related work instructions. The Material Handler will be an active participant in Continuous Improvement activities in the Materials team
Day/ Afternoon Shift.
Salary range: $23-25 hourly
Key responsibilities/ areas of accountability:
- Review Material issue lists, outbound sheets, pick lists etc. in Baan ERP to ensure packing quantity accuracy
- Use of MS Office tools such as Outlook and Excel
- Use of hand tools such as nail guns, radial saw, tape guns, labelling etc.
- Working with 2x4 wood, skids and plywood during the packing process
- Ability to safely use forklifts, overhead Cranes and other material moving equipment to handle Husky product
- Conduct daily pre-operational inspection of the crane, forklift and other material handling equipment using inspection checklists to make sure it is in good condition, and no malfunctions or defects are found.
- Operate overhead bridge crane, to lift, move, position and place heavy machine parts/components to facilitate pre-assembly tasks and staging process in a manufacturing environment. Report any damage or malfunction on cranes or any other equipment, follow Lockout/Tagout procedures, and submit a maintenance work order
- Calculate and ensure load weights are within capacity of crane, forklift, racks and rigging equipment
- Identify suitable rigging equipment to properly balance load weights. Perform a thorough visual inspection of all the rigging equipment such as round slings, chain slings, swivel hoist rings etc. before every use
- Update, track and investigate material movement using BAAN IV, ERP Software, including receiving, outbounding and cycle counting
- Follow OHSA safety procedures, wear appropriate PPE including uniforms, safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves etc. to prevent accidents and injuries, ensuring a safe working environment
- Inspecting incoming material for accurate part numbers and quantity by following receiving procedures
- Inspecting incoming material for quality and, if required, following the Non-Conforming process
- Pick and prep items for production and perform Primary and Secondary Verification (Quality Checks)
- Ability to review existing processes and procedures for accuracy and follow standard work instructions
- Experience in process improvements, 5S etc.
