Material Handler Operator

Title: Material Handler Operator – 23 month temporary contract

Reports to: Stores Team Leader

Division: Diagnostics

Position Purpose:

Basic purpose of the position.

The purpose of this position is to ensure that materials are received, processed, packed and distributed to meet daily sales requirements.

Because this position is responsible for receiving and shipping goods, flexibility

is needed with regard to working schedules to include ovetime and shift work.

Major Contributing Activities:

Key-end results areas necessary to fulfill the position’s basic purpose.

Incumbents in this position are responsible for the following:

• Processing material through Despatch areas strictly adhering to company processes/procedures.
• Cycle counting of materials
• Monitoring stock levels
• Packing machines/spare parts for shipment
• Accurate and timely completion of relevant documentation
• Observing housekeeping and safety regulations/policies

Primary Customers:

Position’s primary customers and how position can help meet customer expectations.

Primary customers are Siemens distribution centers delivery/export companies and internal customers.

Major Opportunities:

Challenges and opportunities faced in doing work, improving processes or meeting customer needs.

Major opportunities for incumbents would be to improve processes to allow for changes in efficiencies. In addition, accuracy and timeliness are key criteria for improvements.

Education, skills, experiences and personal characteristics necessary for success in this assignment.

Incumbents need the following skills/education levels:

• Leaving cert or equivalent
• 2-3 years material handler experience
• Forklift experience and valid licence
• Knowledge of warehouse control systems and practices
• Excellent clerical and organizational skills
• Computer experience with entering data on SAP
• A high level of initiative; ability to work alone and be self motivated
• Accuracy and math ability are necessary
• Flexibility with regard to working schedule to include overtime/shift work.
