POSITION OVERVIEW:

SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory seeks a Material Services Technician for the Accelerator Directorate Technical Planning Department. The successful candidate will support the LCLS-II-HE Project. The Material Services Technician Lead will work with the department Planning Team and technicians to ensure the successful execution of manufacturing projects for complex assemblies. This position is part of a team responsible for managing inventory and logistics, purchasing, scheduling of fabrication, and tracking of deliverables. This position reports to the TPD Production Supervisor in the Mechanical Engineering and Technical Services Division of SLAC¿s Accelerator Directorate.

Given the nature of this position, SLAC will require onsite work.

Your specific responsibilities include:

  • Execute shipping and receiving activities, meticulously entering transactions into Visual Manufacturing software or other databases.
  • Inspect and verify items upon receipt, routing them to the appropriate storeroom, customer, or location.
  • Prepare parts and materials for storeroom incorporation, including division, counting, bagging, and tagging.
  • Maintain records and ensure proper disposition on of procurement paperwork, including certificates for raw materials.
  • Prepare kits based on drawing bill of materials for manufacturing and installation activities.
  • Delivery of parts and kits to internal shop & receiving locations including proof of delivery.
  • - Other duties may also be assigned

To be successful in this position you will bring:

  • Minimum High School Diploma with some college courses and one year of experience in a manufacturing warehouse environment.
  • Minimum one year of experience using Manufacturing Inventory and Receiving software.
  • Pro¿cient in basic math and able to work independently, following written and verbal instructions.
  • Knowledge and experience in warehouse and inventory methods and procedures.
  • Ability to move materials of various sizes and con¿gurations, operating a pallet jack or motorized pallet movers.
  • Accurate with keen attention to detail.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel. Willingness to learn and utilize manufacturing software after basic training.
  • Valid California state driver¿s license.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and collaboratively with technicians, engineers, designers, fabricators, and procurement personnel within and outside the department.

Desired Skills:

  • Experience with Visual Manufacturing Software.
  • Demonstrated experience with an on-line purchase requisition and purchase order system such as PeopleSoft, Oracle, SAP.

Please note: This position is represented by SEIU Local 2007 and the collective bargaining agreement between the university and SEIU Local 2007 governs the terms and conditions of employment.

The expected pay range for this position is $40.55 (Step 1) - $49.03 (Step 10) per hour. Placement in the range is subject to the applicable Collective Bargaining Unit. SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory/Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for a position. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location and external market pay for comparable jobs.
