Summary

The Materials Manager is responsible for managing the procurement of materials, components, supplies, and services required to support efficient manufacturing operations in a lean production environment. Reporting directly to the Controller this role works cross-functionally with Project Management, Quality Assurance, Maintenance, Shipping, and Administration to ensure timely availability of materials, inventory accuracy, and cost-effective purchasing practices.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive, with strong analytical and communication skills and experience coordinating purchasing activities in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.
Responsibilities

  • Source, negotiate, and purchase raw materials, components, consumables, and services required for manufacturing and operational needs.
  • Maintain supplier relationships to ensure competitive pricing, quality, and reliable delivery performance.
  • Work closely with Project Managers to understand project timelines and material requirements.
  • Coordinate procurement activities to ensure all required components are available to meet production and project deadlines.
  • Monitor supply chain risks and proactively address material shortages or delays.
  • Partner with the Quality Department to ensure incoming materials and components meet required specifications and quality standards.
  • Assist the Maintenance Department with sourcing and purchasing equipment, spare parts, tools, and maintenance-related supplies.
  • Collaborate with the Shipping Department to track purchased items through the manufacturing process.
  • Work with administration to ensure the accurate recording of inventory transactions within the ERP
  • Maintain accurate records of receipts, transfers, returns, and adjustments.
  • Participate in physical inventory counts and cycle counts, including month-end inventory verification.
  • Work with the Administration Department to investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies.

Qualifications

  • Postsecondary education in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Operations, or related field preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under deadlines
  • Minimum 3–5 years of purchasing or procurement experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience working within a lean manufacturing environment is strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of inventory control systems and ERP/MRP software.
  • Strong understanding of supply chain processes and purchasing best practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across departments.

Pay: $65,100.01-$75,000.00 per year
