Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Meat Clerk to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for the food industry, with experience in food handling, and food preparation. This role involves providing exceptional customer service, ensuring food safety standards, and maintaining the quality and presentation of meat products. The Meat Clerk will play a vital role in supporting our store’s operations and delivering a positive shopping experience for our customers.

Responsibilities

• Assist customers by answering questions about meat products and offering recommendations
• Package meat items securely for retail display or customer purchase
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the meat department, including equipment and work surfaces
• Ensure all food safety protocols are followed in handling, storage, and display of meat products
• Restock shelves and ensure proper labeling of products with accurate weights and prices
• Monitor inventory levels and communicate shortages or ordering needs to management
• Support food preparation tasks as needed, including portioning and packaging for retail or catering purposes
• Follow all health regulations related to food handling, safety, and sanitation standards

Requirements

• Previous experience in the food industry, particularly in butchery or meat cutting, is preferred but not required; training will be provided for qualified candidates
• Knowledge of food safety standards and proper food handling procedures
• Ability to operate basic kitchen equipment and tools used in meat preparation
• Strong customer service skills with a friendly and professional demeanor
• Attention to detail in food preparation, packaging, and presentation
• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks such as lifting up to 50 pounds
• Kitchen experience or familiarity with food preparation processes is a plus
• Commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work environment
