We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support mechanical integrity, asset reliability, and small capital projects within an industrial operating environment. This role combines hands-on engineering with project coordination and execution, ensuring mechanical assets remain safe, reliable, and compliant while delivering improvement projects from planning through completion.

The successful candidate will work closely with operations, maintenance, engineering, and contractors to identify equipment issues, develop engineering solutions, and manage small to mid-sized projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the site's Mechanical Integrity Program for fixed and rotating equipment.
  • Perform equipment assessments, inspections, and failure investigations to improve asset reliability.
  • Develop repair recommendations and ensure compliance with applicable engineering codes and standards.
  • Review inspection reports and coordinate corrective maintenance activities.
  • Support risk assessments and mechanical integrity improvement initiatives.
  • Manage small capital and sustaining projects from scope development through commissioning and close-out.
  • Develop project scopes, cost estimates, schedules, and technical work packages.
  • Coordinate contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders during project execution.
  • Review engineering drawings, equipment specifications, P&IDs, and vendor documentation.
  • Support procurement activities including technical bid evaluations and equipment selection.
  • Monitor project budgets, schedules, and progress while identifying and mitigating project risks.
  • Participate in field walkdowns, construction support, commissioning, and startup activities.
  • Ensure all work complies with company safety standards and regulatory requirements.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in good standing.
  • 5+ years of mechanical engineering experience in mining, oil & gas, heavy industrial, manufacturing, or energy sectors.
  • Experience supporting Mechanical Integrity, Asset Integrity, Reliability, or Maintenance Engineering programs.
  • Experience managing or coordinating small to mid-sized capital projects.
  • Strong knowledge of rotating equipment, pumps, piping systems, pressure equipment, tanks, valves, and heat exchangers.
  • Familiarity with applicable engineering codes and standards (ASME, API, CSA, etc.).
  • Experience reviewing P&IDs, engineering drawings, and technical specifications.
  • Experience with inspection programs, failure investigations, and root cause analysis.
  • Knowledge of risk-based inspection (RBI) and asset reliability principles is considered an asset.
  • Experience working with CMMS systems such as SAP or Maximo.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project scheduling software (MS Project or Primavera P6).
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to work effectively in both office and field environments.
