Job Title: Medical Driver 8a.m. - 4:30p.m.

Status: The position is not exempt from the overtime pay provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act and the applicable state wage & hour laws.

Department/Location: Medical, Bethlehem, PA

Reports To: Medical Department Assistant/Scheduler

Primary Function: To transport clients with mobility challenges to their destinations safely and on time.

Requirements:

· Must be at least 18 years of age

· Valid Drivers License

· Must have a clean driving record with no points

· High School Diploma or GED

· Minimum of 4 years driving experience

· CPR and First Aid Certification

· Valid Pennsylvania driver’s license

· Completed Vehicle training, Overview of Developmental Disabilities, and Abuse and Neglect training.

· Completion of procedural skills competency

Duties and Responsibilities:

·

o Arrive to work on time.

o Meet with supervisor at shift start to receive assignments for the day.

o Continuous communication with supervisor throughout the day for updates.

o Drive clients to their destination on time.

o Provide appropriate documentation for all office visits.

o Liaison between physicians, nurses, and clinical team members for all office visits.

o Assist clients as they get into and out of the vehicle.

o Assist with monitoring & supervision for safety of all individuals in the driveway & parking areas.

o Ensure all procedural operations for all safety restraints.

o Maintain appropriate fuel and fluid levels for all vehicles.

o Report all needed repairs to Maintenance.

o Responsible for cleanliness of the interior and exterior of all Universal vehicles.

o Report & complete incident/accident reports involving vehicles and/or clients while in vehicles.

o Operate wheelchair lifts as needed.

o Keep the driveways and parking areas free of garbage and debris at all times.

o Adhere to company policies and procedures.

o Effective Communicator.

o Attend all schedules staff trainings and meetings.

o Assist with Medical Department laundry, restocking supplies in the medical department and unpacking Medical Dept. shipments.

o Assist with other department’s client needs when not on an assignment. (Duties include, but are not limited to: Assisting clients with therapy transport, structured day program activities as well as hygiene, toileting, transfers, and mealtime activities. This includes following proper body mechanics when assisting clients and performing duties. Following all dietary restrictions, medical, behavioral, and general safety precautions.)

o Assist with Medical Department laundry, restocking supplies in the medical department and unpacking Medical Dept. shipments.

o Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Physical Demands:

  • On a daily basis, almost constant physical and other interaction with brain injured individuals.
  • Required to lift, carry, push, and pull brain-injured developmentally disables individuals and objects (some of whom weigh as much as approximately 300 pounds).
  • Frequently required to walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach.

· Must be able to speak, hear and see. Depth perception is required.

Working Conditions

· Involves regular interaction with a wide variety of unpredictable and often inappropriate conduct and comments by brain-injured individuals

· Universal precautions will be observed in order to prevent contact with blood or any potentially infectious material. Under circumstances in which differentiation between body fluid types is difficult or impossible, all body fluids shall be considered potentially infectious materials. The categories shown below are designed to communicate the risk of exposure for this particular position.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
