Medical Assistant, Orthopedics
Michigan Orthopedic Specialists is seeking a full-time Medical Assistant for busy Orthopedic Surgery practice. Primary assignment in our Dearborn location. This is a full-time position with benefits. Pay commensurate with experience. Schedule can vary at times - flexibility is a must.
Orthopedic or similar specialty background preferred. Working knowledge of basic medical terminology, medical record documentation and familiar with ICD10, OSHA, HIPAA.
- Responsible for a wide variety of clinical and administrative duties, including but not limited to:
- assisting the physician with patient care & charting in EMR
- ensuring that the clinic runs efficiently
- reviewing and preparing documents for physician review
- rooming the patient, obtaining vitals, updating demographics & reviewing intake sheet
- assisting with injections, procedures, dressing changes, casting
- Phlebotomy skills a plus
- cleaning/sterilization/restocking of rooms and equipment/ordering supplies
- answering phone calls, emails, voice mail messages, prescription requests and responding timely to all
- processing work/school/sports notes, FMLA, disability and other paperwork
- patient education, surgical boarding, obtaining medical clearances, authorizations
- assisting with medical study's and other duties as assigned
The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, compassionate and caring with our patients, be a team-player and a positive reflection of our medical practice at all times. Ability to interact professionally with patients, visitors, coworkers and physicians a must. Multi-tasking and follow thru is a must. Required to work at at satellite locations.
