Summary:
The Medical Assistant (MA) is a vital part of a team concept in the NCHC health delivery system; which is devoted to providing high quality, comprehensive primary health care.
Assisting Practitioners in performing their duties, the MA will carry out necessary functions required by established policies and procedures.
The hours for this position are Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm; with rotating evenings until 8 pm and some Saturdays from 8:00 am - 12 noon.
Responsibilities:
- Gather clinical data including vital signs, current medications, history of previous illness, procedures, and surgeries
- Maintain documentation in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) to ensure accurate tracking of the patient's medical treatment
- Utilize provided technology in the collection, management, updating and reporting of patient records
- Work with a diverse, underserved patient population
- Schedule/inform patients regarding procedures including lab tests, and other procedures
- Follow procedures for handling various specimens/cultures including throat, wound, stool, urine, sputum, blood or other
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Graduated from an accredited medical assisting program and has at least two years’ experience working in an outpatient primary care setting
- Knowledge and ability to use requisite tools, systems, technology and equipment in the collection of patient data
- Bilingual: English/Spanish preferred
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $22.00 - $24.00 per hour
