About the position
We are seeking a full-time Patient Accounts & Billing Representative to join our front office administrative team. In this role, you will support our billing department by ensuring accurate patient accounts, timely claim processing, and positive client communication around billing and benefits.

This position is ideal for someone who is organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable discussing financial responsibilities while maintaining empathy and patience. You will collaborate closely with clinicians, care coordinators, and outside providers to ensure a smooth billing experience for our clients.

Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 8:30 AM – 12:30 PM and 1:30 PM – 6:30 PM (1-hour lunch break); Friday, 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM.

A few job functions you can expect from this position:

  • Maintain and manage patient accounts, including payment posting and balance review
  • Verify insurance eligibility and behavioral health benefits prior to services
  • Submit claims, resolve claim rejections/denials, and manage accounts receivable (AR)
  • Communicate with clients regarding billing questions, outstanding balances, and payment plans
  • Support clients by explaining insurance coverage, financial responsibilities, and billing policies
  • Work collaboratively with the billing team to ensure accurate and timely claim processing
  • Assist the front office team with check-in/check-out and scheduling as needed
  • Communicate professionally with insurance representatives, referral sources, and outside providers
  • Maintain accurate documentation and follow HIPAA compliance standards
  • Support administrative tasks and contribute to smooth daily operations

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years of healthcare billing experience
  • Experience with verifying insurance eligibility and benefits
  • Experience submitting claims and working AR
  • Familiarity with CPT codes and general medical billing practices
  • Experience using EHR systems and billing software

Skills Needed:

  • Strong communication & de-escalation skills—especially when discussing billing concerns
  • Ability to explain insurance processes and financial responsibilities clearly and compassionately
  • High attention to detail and accuracy when managing accounts
  • Personable, patient, and empathetic approach when supporting clients
  • Ability to prioritize, multitask, and stay organized in a fast-paced environment
  • Team-oriented mindset with willingness to help where needed
  • Proficient with multi-line phones, Microsoft Word & Excel, and texting/communication platforms
