We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Medical Billing and Coding Specialist to join our healthcare team. Responsibilities

• Review and analyze medical records to assign appropriate ICD-10 (International Classification of Diseases, Tenth Revision), CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), and DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) codes for diagnoses, procedures, and treatments
• Ensure all billing information aligns with medical documentation, verifying completeness and accuracy before submission
• Submit claims electronically through Electronic Medical Record (EMR) or Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems, adhering to payer guidelines and deadlines
• Follow up on unpaid or rejected claims by initiating medical collections processes and resolving discrepancies promptly
• Maintain comprehensive and organized medical records, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations
• Stay updated on changes in medical coding standards, including ICD-9 (International Classification of Diseases, Ninth Revision), ICD-10, CPT coding, and related regulations
• Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation gaps or ambiguities that could affect coding accuracy
• Assist in audits or reviews of billing processes to improve efficiency and ensure regulatory compliance

Skills

• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology to accurately interpret clinical documentation
• Proficiency in medical coding systems including ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT coding, DRG classifications, and ICD coding standards
• Experience with medical billing processes from claim submission to payment posting
• Familiarity with EMR systems and EHR platforms for data entry and claim management
• Ability to perform medical collection activities effectively while maintaining professionalism
• Excellent attention to detail to minimize errors in coding and billing procedures
• Effective communication skills for collaborating with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients
