Position Overview
We are a small, growing non-emergency ambulance and medical transportation company seeking a Medical Billing & Collections Administrator to oversee our billing operations and oversee a small administrative staff.
This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with experience in medical billing and collections who is comfortable wearing multiple hats in a small business environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee all aspects of medical billing and collections for non-emergency ambulance transports
Review trip documentation and assign correct CPT, HCPCS (including ambulance-specific), and ICD-10 codes
Communicate professionally with insurance companies, facilities, and patients regarding billing questions
- Submit accurate and timely claims to Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance providers
- Monitor accounts receivable, follow up on unpaid or denied claims, and manage appeals
- Supervise and support a small medical billing/administrative staff
- Serve as the primary point of contact for billing-related questions from staff, payers, and patients
- Coordinate with operations staff to assist with employee onboarding
Qualifications
- Previous experience in Medical Billing and Collections (ambulance or EMS billing experience strongly preferred)
- Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance billing processes
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Proficiency in basic office technology
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
Work Environment & Growth Opportunity

- Part-time schedule initially, with a planned transition to full-time employment
- Hourly Rate: $20-$22/hr based on experience
