Job Description


We are seeking an experienced and driven Medical Affairs professional to join our Oncology team as Medical Manager for hematology. In this role, you will play a key role in developing and executing medical strategies that advance our hematology therapeutic area and support the delivery of innovative treatments to patients.

As the Medical Manager, we are looking for someone who is driven by guiding, mentoring, and developing your individual team members. You will manage ambiguity, change and provide stability for direct reports and cross-functional team members.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership, strategic direction and mentorship to direct reports, as appropriate, and fulfill line management responsibilities accordingly.
  • Provide the required coaching and mentoring to develop direct reports for high performance.
  • Develop and implement medical strategies and tactics to support AbbVie’s hematology portfolio.
  • Serve as a scientific and medical expert in hematology to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs) and other healthcare professionals. Some in-field activity will be required.
  • Provide medical insights and input to cross-functional teams, including marketing, sales, regulatory, market access and clinical development.
  • Develop and deliver scientific presentations at meetings, conferences, and symposia.
  • Lead affiliate evidence generation activities and projects.
  • Stay current with scientific literature, emerging trends, and the competitive landscape in hematology.

Qualifications
  • Advanced degree in Medicine, Pharmacy, Life Sciences (MD, PharmD, PhD) or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2 years people leadership experience
  • Minimum 3 years in medical affairs (e.g MSL, Medical Advisor, Medical Manager).
  • Expertise in hematology is a strong advantage.
  • Understanding and experience of the healthcare, regulatory, and business environment in Scandinavia.
  • An ability to build and maintain relationships and effectively communicate complex medical/ scientific concepts to external and internal stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated leadership in a cross-functional team setting, with adherence to internal processes and governance, is essential.
  • Proven track record of implementation of strategies.
  • Fluency (written, oral) in English and at least one Scandinavian language.
  • Willingness and ability to travel within Scandinavia on a regular basis and internationally as needed.
