We are a small friendly GP practice who are looking for 2 part time Receptionists/Administrators to join our friendly team. Each role is for 15-20 hours per week.
The surgery is open from 8.00am-6.00pm Monday to Friday and the shifts will be a mixture of mornings (7.45am-12.45pm) and afternoons (1.15pm-6.15pm).
Main responsibilities
As a GP Receptionist you will be the first contact point for our patients, so it is vital that professionalism and empathy is embedded within you.
The main responsibilities of the role are:
To provide a point of contact for Patients and act as a focal point of communication between Patients and the Practice Team along with administration duties as and when requested.
Receive, assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way.
Provide general assistance to the practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person, by email or via the telephone.
Ensure an effective and efficient reception service is provided to patients and any other visitors to the practice.
Deal with all general enquiries, explain procedures and make new and follow-up appointments.
Explain practice arrangements and formal requirements to new patients and those seeking temporary cover and ensure procedures are completed.
Receive and make telephone calls as required. Divert calls and take messages, ensuring accuracy of detail and prompt appropriate delivery.
Advise patients of relevant charges for private (non-General Medical Services) services, accept payment and issue receipts for same.
Enter patient information on to the computer as required.
Ensure correspondence, reports, results etc. are filed promptly and in the correct records, ensuring that all recent correspondence is available when patients are seen.
Liaise with patients, hospitals, Social Services, Health Authority and other outside agencies.
Adhere fully to the practice confidentiality and safeguarding policies.
Undertake any other duties as may be determined from time to time commensurate with the job role.
Competencies required
Ability to communicate with people at all levels
Ability to work within a team
Good computer skills
Experience of working in a customer / patient facing role
Previous experience within a healthcare setting would be advantageous but full training and support will be provided for the right candidates.
