We're excited to offer opportunities for Medical Registrars – non-training, Basic and Advanced Training level, starting as soon as possible. The Department of Medicine offers supportive working conditions and is committed to excellent teaching.
About the Team/Service/ Location
Our department consists of ten Physicians in General Medicine with a wide variety of sub-speciality interest and two intensivists, as well as an outpatient cardiology team, specialist nurses, and visiting sub-specialists. We are accredited by the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) for Basic and Advanced Trainees.

Gisborne Hospital is a 110-bed acute care hospital which serves a wide geographical area extending up the East Cape of New Zealand, creating enormous scope and variety in the work available to an enthusiastic registrar. Providing healthcare to a population of 54,000, Health NZ Te Whatu Ora Tairāwhiti is well supported locally by comprehensive surgical services and has a full range of diagnostic facilities on site including a new MRI scanner and CT scanner. We have strong ties with our tertiary referral centre in Waikato.

About you
  • Suitable for Resident Medical Officers PGY3 level and above.
  • Applicants must be registered, or eligible for registration, with the Medical Council of New Zealand
  • You will need to be a NZ or Australian citizen or resident, or have an appropriate visa to be eligible to live and work in NZ. For more information on visa requirements please visit the Immigration NZ website
  • Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth
