Mental Health And Addiction Manager

About the Role

The role is responsible for delivering equitable safe and effective MH&A service delivery ensuring a high performing system. This includes supporting the delivery of the Hospital and Specialist Services (H&SS) local, regional, and national MH&A health targets and prioritises by working with clinical leadership to support change programmes and manage resource allocation.

Supporting clinical and operational services, the role leads the MH&A team, and is responsible for building a high performing hospital and specialist service delivery meeting the expectations of Te Whatu Ora, the New Zealand Health Plan (Te Pae Tata) and Pae Ora legislation.

Patient and whānau experience are at the heart of this role, driving service delivery improvements.

About you

This role will suit an individual with proven senior leadership experience across a wide range of environments including Mental Health and Addiction (MH&A).

Experience leading teams through change and the ability to think, plan and act strategically is required along with connecting and inspiring people, building a highly motivated and engaged workforce. Inclusive leadership skills leading to quality contributions of individuals and teams to drive outcomes, is key in this role.

This role has financial delegations and therefore, budgeting, forecasting and cost management skills are required.

Other requirements for success in this role.

  • Demonstrates an understanding of Pae Ora (Healthy Futures) Act 2022, the significance, and obligations of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, including how to give effect to these expectations in a meaningful way, and the commitments to equity and priorities of Wai2575.
  • Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth.
  • Experience in projects / initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principals and frameworks, and the application of Mātauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings.

Salary Range

This role is covered by the terms and conditions of an individual Employment Agreement Collective, and the salary will be in accordance with relevant experience.
