Position Overview:
Boston Psychotherapy & Counseling Services, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Mental Health Billing and Credentialing Specialist to join our growing team. This role is critical to ensuring the smooth operation of our billing processes and staff credentialing with insurance companies. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in mental health billing, familiar with TherapyNotes and other billing platforms, and highly experienced in obtaining preauthorizations for MassHealth members.

Key Responsibilities:
- Billing & Claims Management:
- Accurately submit claims and manage billing processes for mental health services.
- Reconcile payments, address rejected claims, and resolve discrepancies promptly.
- Ensure compliance with insurance guidelines, including CPT codes and modifiers.
- Credentialing:
- Manage credentialing and re-credentialing processes for clinicians with insurance companies, including MassHealth.
- Maintain accurate records of credentialing statuses and ensure all requirements are met in a timely manner.
- Preauthorization:
- Obtain preauthorizations for services, particularly for MassHealth members, ensuring timely and accurate approvals.
- Communicate with clinicians and clients about preauthorization requirements and updates.
- Platform Expertise:
- Utilize TherapyNotes and other billing platforms to manage billing workflows and streamline operations.
- Train staff on using these platforms as needed.
- Compliance & Documentation:
- Stay updated on insurance policies, changes, and best practices in billing and credentialing.
- Maintain meticulous records and ensure all documentation aligns with compliance standards.
Qualifications:
- At least 2-3 years of experience in mental health billing and credentialing, preferably in a group practice setting.
- Expertise in using TherapyNotes or other similar electronic health record (EHR) and billing platforms.
- Demonstrated experience in obtaining preauthorizations for MassHealth members.
- Strong knowledge of insurance policies, including Medicaid/MassHealth and commercial payers.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with clinicians, clients, and insurance representatives.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Massachusetts-based insurance carriers.
- Certification in medical billing or credentialing is a plus.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
