We are rebuilding our team with opportunities for experienced Registered Mental Health Nurses to join our Acute Response Team (ART) at the Adult Community Mental Health Team in Rotorua. About the Role
- Key responsibilities are to deliver a specialist crisis intervention to tangata whaiora presenting with a mental health crisis.
- The position is based in Rotorua but incorporates service delivery in the Taupo / Turangi area.
- Hours negotiable: Full time (40 hrs/ week) or Part time (32 hrs or less / week)
- Rostered shifts: AM (7:00am to 16:05pm) with On-call (likely to 19:00pm)
o The Rotorua-based Acute Response Team cover the Southern Lakes area overnight, from 19:00pm to 7:00am.
About you
You should
- Demonstrate safe, quality nursing practise that is evidence based and reflects best practise
- Demonstrate pathophysiological and psycho-social knowledge and skills in assessment of holistic health needs, formulation of clinical opinion, planning and delivery of care, ensuring this aligns with the model of care, Te Ara Tauwhirotanga.
- Within the acute care setting have the ability to work alongside tāngata whai ora and whānau (family) to achieve maximum health potential that is meaningful to them.
- Have the ability to provide advanced assessment, formulation and management of complex nursing care in an acute community mental health care setting
- Have the ability to engage in contemporary practice with an equity focus in order to achieve improved outcomes for Māori accessing care
- Be a New Zealand Registered Nurse eligible to work in Mental Health and have a current APC
- Have a minimum of 4 years post graduate experience in an acute mental health setting, preferably community
- Have post-graduate training in Mental Health (will be an asset)
- Have former training as a Duly Authorised Officer (DAO) and excellent knowledge of the Mental Health Act preferable

Salary range
$ 86,519 to $ 103,630 As per Collective Agreement and pro-rated to hours worked
