Position Summary:
The Mental Health Director is responsible for providing leadership, oversight, and clinical supervision for the Adult Rehabilitative Mental Health Services (ARMHS) program. This role combines the responsibilities of Treatment Director and Clinical Supervisor, ensuring program compliance with Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) regulations, high-quality service delivery, and positive outcomes for participants. The Mental Health Director will supervise clinical and rehabilitation staff, oversee treatment planning, complete diagnostic assessments as needed, and serve as the primary point of consultation for staff and participants.
Key Responsibilities
Program Leadership
- Serve as the Treatment Director for the ARMHS program, overseeing the design, implementation, and evaluation of treatment and rehabilitation services.
- Ensure program compliance with DHS licensing standards, state statutes, and organizational policies.
- Monitor quality assurance and continuous improvement activities for the program.
- Collaborate with organizational leadership on strategic planning, program growth, and resource allocation.
Clinical Supervision
- Provide clinical supervision to ARMHS staff, including mental health practitioners, certified rehabilitation specialists, and other clinical team members.
- Conduct regular supervision sessions (individual and group), reviewing case documentation, treatment plans, and participant progress.
- Provide consultation and support to staff in managing complex clinical situations and participant crises.
- Ensure staff are trained in trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and evidence-based practices.
Participant-Focused Duties
- Oversee participant assessments, individualized treatment planning, and progress monitoring.
- Ensure that interventions are strengths-based, recovery-oriented, and culturally sensitive.
- Act as a resource for resolving clinical and treatment-related concerns.
- Complete diagnostic assessments for participants as needed to inform treatment planning.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation for all clinical and treatment activities.
- Review and approve progress notes, treatment plans, and other participant records.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to support program compliance and effectiveness.
- Participate in staffing, budgeting, and performance evaluation processes.
Qualifications
· Meet the State of Minnesota definition for a Mental Health Professional (Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker LICSW, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist LMFT, Licensed Professional Clinical Supervisor LPCC).
· Must maintain above licensure.
· Must be enrolled or eligible to enroll with the State of Minnesota Managed Care Organizations.
- Minimum 3–5 years of supervisory experience in a mental health or rehabilitative services setting.
- Have a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
- Experience with ARMHS or community-based mental health programs preferred.
- Strong knowledge of DHS regulations, ARMHS requirements, and evidence-based mental health practices.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to provide clinical supervision and mentor staff effectively.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $61,893.46 - $80,000.00 per year
